Turin: We run for Women, let's run with the State Police to stop feminicides

The 3rd edition of the “We Run For Women“, a running event of Awareness raising against feminicides and different forms of violence against women, strongly supported by the Turin Police Headquarters, sponsored by the Regional Council and Executive Board, by the City of Turin and organised by CUS Turin, in collaboration with the Regional School Office.

The demonstration, which arrived for the first time in the Savoy city, received a positive response nearly 2000 people, who have signed up for the route of 5 km, accessible to all, or 10 km, competitive and not.

After the concentration in Solferino Square, frame of the “Police Village” specially set up with an exhibition of current means and technologies in use by the Police, and an information point managed by the Anti-Crime Division of the Turin Police Headquarters and the Anti-Violence Centers of the area, at 9 the start, in a single direction!

Among the thousands of participants there were also the best:

The Fiamma Oro of the Athletics section of Padua Daniel D'Onofrio, who won first place in the 10km competitive race with a time of 29 minutes flat, Antonino Lollo of the Bergamo Police Headquarters, who came in second, and William Mayolo, third place, in service at the Turin Police Headquarters. The awards were presented by representatives of the Police Headquarters, the Regional Council and Executive Board and the MIUR.

Present also Walter Durbano, winner of the Turin Marathon a few years ago, the Cuban athlete Ana Fidelia Quirot and the athletes of the Carabinieri Sports Centre, Great Nnachi, pole vaulter, and Francesca Fresia, swimmer, respectively of the athletic sections of Bologna and Rome.

The proceeds of the event will be donated to SOS Project – Support for Special Orphans, by EMMA Onlus Anti-Violence Centers, active in Piedmont, Liguria and Valle d'Aosta, where it is already supporting more than 20 beneficiaries, orphans of femicide, from 0 to 21 years old, and their possible family unit.
