Turin: Impressionism between art and music with three concerts at the Mastio della Cittadella.
Art marries music. A combination of paintings, sculptures, notes and melodies is at the center of three special evenings. The Impressionists exhibition between dream and color opens the doors of the National Historical Museum of Artillery at the Cittadella Keep four musicians internationally renowned for creating a marriage between different forms of culture. The paintings of the nineteenth century masters are joined by the melodies of composers of the musical current of Impressionism and of the period of Belle Epoque, developed in Europe and in particular in France between 1870 and 1920.
The exhibition Impressionists between dream and colour, produced by Navigare srl in collaboration with AICS and Art Book Web, offers visitors the opportunity to take a real journey through time, combining the exhibition of around 300 works by 100 artists with musical accompaniment which helps to restore the climate of the time. Three concerts have been planned for this purpose, two of which for piano and one for piano and double bass, which will enliven the special openings of the exhibition starting from 19.30pm. The compositions of those years, plus other contemporary productions inspired by the impressionist period, will be performed Emanuele Sartoris (12 May), Raffaele Tavano and Andrea Garombo (19 May), Francesco Bergamasco (26 May).
The exhibition Impressionists between dream and colour, open until 4 June and divided into three sections, represents for the first time in Italy the most important works of all the artists participating in the 8 impressionist exhibitions held between 1874 and 1886: 45 paintings in oil, 23 mixed media works, graphic works, preparatory studies, ceramics and sculptures. Among the best known artists are David, Delacroix, Monet, Degas, Manet, Renoir, Cézanne, Gauguin, Pissarro, Toulouse-Lautrec. Masters who will be accompanied in three exceptional evenings by pieces by nineteenth-century composers such as Chopin, Debussy, Ravel, Satie, but also by contemporaries such as G. Gershwin, D. Ellington, B. Powell, C. Parker up to AC Jobim.
The initiative will therefore allow visitors to enjoy a "fusion" between pictorial art and musical art, transporting the public to a historical and cultural period of the late nineteenth century.
