The “Bari Pedala” cycle walk returns on 6 and 7 April

Tomorrow, Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th April, Bari Pedala, the cycle walk organized by the cooperative, returns to Largo Giannella Zero barriers, From 'Aps Lezzanzare and by 'ASD Franco Ballerini cycling school with the patronage of the Municipality of Bari - Department of Sport, now in its eighth edition.

The two-day event will open on April 6, at 10 am, with activities road awareness and education held by Friends of Michi Visaggi which will be followed by a memory of the local police commander Nicola Marzulli, who passed away in 2018, with a prize awarded to Claudio Villani, a student of the Zingarelli school in Bari who he stood out for meritorious behavior like those that characterized the personal and professional history of General Marzulli, unforgettable for his civic commitment aimed at educating the community to respect the rules.

In the afternoon, still in Largo Giannella, scheduled inclusive means tests (hugbikes etc.) and an area dedicated to freestyle, with the accompaniment of d.sabile.j Leonardo Baccarella and the animation team of Lezzanzare.

Sunday 7 April, starting at 9am, the traditional cycle walk departing from three different neighborhoods (Carbonara, San Paolo and Japigia) which will converge in Largo Giannella to allow participants to enjoy the seafront in the stretch between the Kursaal Santalucia and the Via Di Vagno bridge. More than 20 members of the Fanfare and the majorettes of the Massari – Galilei school will participate in the event in Largo Giannella, which will be attended by the Sports Councilor Pietro Petruzzelli.

“Nicola Marzulli was an example to imitate – declares Antonio Garofalo president of Lezzanzare -, since love calls for love and respect generates respect, that for one's city. The common good belongs to us and therefore must be defended from those who try to appropriate it or worse to disfigure it in the name of wrong logic, of a desire for supremacy, of the simple indifference of those who watch the show and feel authorized to criticize as they are non-paying spectators. The same ones who look at the rules as obligations and not as a tacit agreement for everyone to live civilly with mutual respect. The first unwritten rule is respect for the rules. Every time the sun rises and lights up Bari it will be easier to look her in the eyes because a gentle man from heaven defends her from indifference and incivility: his name is Nicola Marzulli.”

“For years now, the Franco Ballerini cycling school has become a point of reference for Bari cycling activity – explains Pino Marzano, president of the ASD Franco Ballerini cycling school -. We have embraced an inclusive idea for sports practice because we strongly feel the importance of broadening the community vision which includes the approach to cycling also to children with behavioral disorders, blind people, people with Down syndrome, etc., thanks to special means provided available thanks to some projects in which we have participated. Bari Pedala is the result of what we do every day, it is our concrete presence in the area as an organization accredited for the realization of large events in this area".
