Taranto: The presentation of “Orpheus and the Sirens” after returning from the United States. 

Wednesday 5 April 2023 (12pm), a Tarentum, al Mar-Ta, National Archaeological Museum of Taranto (via Cavour, 10), the sculptural group will be presented “Orpheus and the Sirens” with fragments of the curls of their hair, clandestinely excavated in an archaeological area in the area in the Seventies and subsequently illicitly exported to the United States of America.

The operation was conducted by the Carabinieri for the Protection of Cultural Heritage (TPC), coordinated by the Taranto Public Prosecutor's Office, together with the New York County District Attorney's Office (DAO).

After institutional greetings from Rinaldo Melucci, Mayor of Taranto, and the introduction by Luca Mercuri, Regional Director of Puglia Museums, with speakers: the General Director of Museums, Massimo Osanna; the Public Prosecutor at the Court of Taranto, Eugenia Pontassuglia; the Commander of the Carabinieri TPC, Gen. B. Vincenzo Molinese.

Concluding: the Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano.
