Sunday 13 October the national campaign "I don't take risks" returns: appointment in 40 squares of Emilia-Romagna
Everything is ready for the 2024 edition of “I don't risk“, national communication campaign on good civil protection practices, to discover what everyone can do to reduce risks in their own territory, through concrete and daily actions.
The key day is Sunday, October 13; the appointment, which is also attended by the Emilia Romagna region, will take place throughout Italy, on the occasion of the International Day for the Disaster Risk Reduction, established the 13 October by the United Nations General Assembly, at the end of the “National Civil Protection Week”.
Also in light of the catastrophic events that affected Emilia-Romagna between 2023 and 2024, the objective is raise awareness of risks to which individuals and communities are exposed, both natural and caused by human activity, and promote actions and behaviors to prevent them or reduce their consequencesKnowing what to do before, during and after a dangerous situation and understanding how civil protection works is essential for everyone's safety, especially considering the consequences of ongoing climate change.
Circa 400 civil protection volunteers are therefore ready to welcome citizens in the squares set up in over 40 Municipalities with yellow gazebos, information points to help them learn more about the risks of earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, forest fires, with materials and initiatives such as urban trekking to discover their city. Some squares have already been activated today, Saturday 12 October, and will be active in the following days.
“I don't take risks” is a public communication campaign based on synergy between science, volunteering and institutions; with information and awareness activities it addresses everyone, through clear and recognizable messages, 365 days a year.
The campaign is promoted and implemented by the Department of Civil Protection in collaboration with Anpas – National Association of Public Assistance, Ingv – National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, ReLUIS – Interuniversity Consortium of Seismic Engineering Laboratories and Fondazione Cima, in agreement with the Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces and Anci – National Association of Italian Municipalities.
