“Amico Rom” turns thirty: events in Rome, Pescara and Lanciano.

Chieti, the event turns thirtyRoma Friend” and shows up on a date with someone eventful edition, which they pose Lanciano (Ch) how capital of interculture at a transnational level. For the occasion, in fact, world-class personalities and artists will not only reach the city of Frenta from all over Europe but also from Argentina and Russia. They organize the association Them Romanò and UCRI – Union of Roman Communities in Italy.

The 2 October in the prestigious Cervantes Institute, in Piazza Navona in Rome, the European project will be presented ROMHERITAGE, Roma cultural path recognized by Europe. They are partners of the event the ERIAC (European Roma Institute for Art and Culture), cultural organization financed by the Council of Europe; the Spanish association Gypsy Presence; the Slovenian association EPEKA and the Italian association Them Romano-International Romani Union based in Lanciano (Chieti). Important institutional representatives will intervene, including Mattia Peradotto, director ofUNAR, National Anti-Racial Discrimination Office, based in Palazzo Chigi – Presidency of the Council of Ministers. Unar is the national focal point of the European Union for National strategy for the inclusion of Roma and Sinti. And then music, with the'Alexian Group, successful and internationally renowned artistic group.

The same event with the same protagonists will be repeated at They launch on October 4th from 16pm at the Casa di Conversazione, Sala Lanci, in front of international guests and authorities and the highest officials of theInternational Romani Union (body representing Roma at the UN) to which the municipal administration will welcome in the council chamber at 15pm. The presentation of the European project ROMHERITAGE will be in live streaming.

"The choice of Lanciano as the presentation venue for ROMHERITAGE – explains the musician Santino Spinelli, president of the Them Romanò association - is given by the fact that the city will be an important stop on the European cultural itinerary thanks to the Samudaripen monument, located in the Parco delle Memorie and inaugurated on 5 October 2018, and the 30 editions of the Amico International Art Competition Rom, an original competition which is the most important and longest running in the world in the sector".

October 4th morning in Pescara there will be training with the students ofDe Cecco Hotel Institute on Samudaripen (Nazi-fascist genocide of Roma and Sinti) and the contribution to Resistance in Europe by the Roma and Sinti. The meeting is in the context of European REGARD project.

The 5 October it's the highlight day with two appointments. The first in the morning, at 10.30 at the Parco delle Memorie in Lanciano with the solemn ceremony of laying the laurel wreath at Samudaripen Monument and the inauguration of a new one European Memorial within the REGARD project (REmembering Genocide Against Roma Discrimination) and the planting of a tree, an holm oak, by the association 1000 Trees of Lanciano, dedicated to Gennaro Spinelli, deported with his family by fascists in his childhood. In the evening at Fenaroli Theatre starting by 21 the awards ceremony of the thirtieth edition of the International Artistic Competition Amico Rom. Many award winners and many regional, national and international authorities and personalities from the world of art, culture, politics and entertainment were present at the event. They will cheer up the event flamenco and rumba group from Barcelona, the well-known Spanish artist Paco Suarez, Evedise Spinelli virtuoso harpist and the folk choir of Picciano who will perform the Abruzzo anthem Fly Fly to pay homage to the numerous guests who came from abroad. Participation is free and free. The appointments on 4 and 5 October will be broadcast live from Abruzzolive.tv.
