The Porto Cesareo Film Festival kicks off, 2.700 workers from 115 countries.
Il “Porto Cesareo Film Festival” for the third consecutive year, it renews its appointment with one of the most evocative film festivals in Europe.
There are 2700 works, including shorts, mini shorts and documentaries received from 115 different countries (INCLUDING Iraq, Iran, Peru, Ukraine, Malaysia, Netherlands, India, Chile, France, Brazil, United Kingdom, Italy) and evaluated by a jury of experts.
The event, full of collateral events including guided tours on land and sea, readings, concerts, show cooking, discussion panels, meetings and screenings, is organized by the "Pro Porto Cesareo ODV Environmentalists Coordination" as part of the A-Mare i project Youth (Project co-financed by the Department for Youth Policies and Universal Civil Service as part of the Action and Cohesion Plan - Youth for Social Notice 2018 edition), coordinated by the lawyers Marco Greco and Mino Buccolieri, with the artistic direction by Anna Seviroli and with the support of the Municipality of Porto Cesareo and the Apulia Film Commission.

The 2023 edition, which tells of a new cinema, as an ideal tool for narrating and telling ever-changing stories, will take place at two of the sixteenth-century coastal towers that characterize the Ionian coast of Salento: Torre Santo Stefano (or Torre Chianca), an architectural heritage , unique historical and cultural site, for the evenings of the 1st and 2nd and the Torre Lapillo for the final evening.

1 SEPTEMBER PLACE OF THE EVENT: TORRE CHIANCA
– 18pm Inauguration of the photographic exhibition Impatto by Tatiana Cardellicchio, shots taken within the Palude del Conte Regional Nature Reserve and the Coastal Dune of Porto Cesareo.
Following:
– Inauguration of the Mother Earth installation by Hermes Mangialardo: a tribute to our planet, a sphere with a diameter of 4 meters created to remember the majesty of the earth, but also its delicate essence and fragility.
– Poetic reading with Emanuele Spedicato and Clio Evans on the book “Destini: our story, true and full of hope”;
– Screening of the documentary “Mare Nostrum”, created by the children of the Porto Cesareo Comprehensive Institute and the “Don Tonino Bello” Institute of Copertino, as part of the educational project “Cinema and School – Laboratory of cinematographic and audiovisual language”. Scientific direction by director Carlos Solito;
1. Musical performance by Napolinaria with the voice of Tania Lamparelli, the mandolin of Gianni Seviroli and the guitar of Albina Seviroli;
– Special screening of Addhumare by Hermes Mangialardo, a cartoon set in Gallipoli;
– 20.45pm Screening of the finalist works in the competition
SATURDAY 2 SEPTEMBER 2023 – MORNING AND EVENING
Location of the event: Torre Chianca
– Parallel activities*;
– In the morning, basic sailing course (reserved for children aged 6 to 16) in collaboration with the Circolo Nautico L'Approdo;
– Presentation of the creative writing workshop curated by the artistic director Anna Seviroli (in a new location in Porto Cesareo);
– Round table: “Cinema in Puglia as a means of denunciation: air pollution in Salento, the health effects of toxic gases and killer dust and marine pollution;
– Poetic reading by the poet Gianni Seviroli;
– Special event: screening of the documentary film “Senza Paura” by Luciano Toriello. A MAD production with the patronage of Apulia Film Commission;
– A chat with the director Luciano Toriello and Serena Helena Van Put, journalist for Alia, Il manifesto and Il Nuovo Quotidiano di Puglia;
20.45pm Screening of the finalist works in the competition;
SUNDAY 3 SEPTEMBER 2023 – MORNING AND EVENING
Location of the event: Torre Lapillo-
– Parallel activities*;
– Archaeo-snorkeling in collaboration with the University of Salento and Riviera di Ponente – Natura dal Vivo;
– Round table: “Flavours of Puglia, flavors of cinema: the journey of films through the food and wine routes of our land” in collaboration with the Dams of Lecce, University of Salento with Luca Bandirali, the Città del Gusto Lecce – Gambero Rosso with Fiorella Perrone, Massimiliano Apollonio, president of the Puglia Wine Tourism Movement;
– Final awards evening in Torre Lapillo, access by invitation.

– Taste laboratory with the poor fish of Porto Cesareo as part of the Mare in Mostra program of the GOSPEL project of the Porto Cesareo Marine Protected Area;

PARALLEL ACTIVITIES
Activities organized by the Environmentalists Coordination for Porto Cesareo and the CEA (Environmental Education Center) of Porto Cesareo, as part of the “A-Mare i Giovani” project:
- Guided tours
– Naturalistic excursions in the Palude del Conte Regional Reserve and the Coastal Dune of Porto Cesareo;
– Use of viewers and advanced technologies at the Torre Chianca tower (discovering the underwater archeology of the sea of Porto Cesareo) by the Cultural Heritage Department of the University of Salento and the “Porto Cesareo” Marine Protected Area.
JURY
Luca Bandirali, (PhD) is RTDb Senior Researcher in Cinema Photography Television (L-ART/06) at the Department of Cultural Heritage of the University of Salento. He collaborates with the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia (three-year course in Conservation and Management of Audiovisual Heritage). He is qualified for the first band in the competition sector 10 / C1 (theatre, music, cinema, television and audiovisual media).
Virginia Panzera, audiovisual teacher, author, editor and assistant director for some of the most important productions in Italy such as Rai, Endemol, Sky.
Piergiorgio Martena, Actor, director and acting coach from Salento, founder of Tujunga – acting house (Lecce), trained at the International Academy of Dramatic Art Teatro Quirino – Vittorio Gassman in Rome, which includes Gigi Proietti among the teachers, and at the Taylor School of acting in Los Angeles.
Dario Di Mella, director of photography and camera operator, collaborates in the creation of more than 100 film works including feature films, short films, documentaries, music videos and commercials, receiving numerous personal awards. Since 2014 he has been a permanent teacher of Direction of Photography for the Accademia del Cinema Ragazzi of Enziteto and for the Roman University Luiss Writing School for Cinema.
