Piacenza, “Harmonies of peace”: music and dances against all the wars of the world.

From an idea of the “InCanto Libero” choir, “Armonie di Pace” was born, an event that will be held on Saturday 7 May at 20.45 pm in the monumental hall of Gothic Palace. It is a moment of reflection whose specific themes are peace and hospitality, how to counteract the many conflicts present in the world, many of which are unfortunately forgotten.

The Councilor for Culture Jonathan Papamarenghi explains: “The current war underway in Ukraine has unfortunately generated enormous damage to the population, in particular to the weakest population made up of women and children. Piacenza immediately provided responses by sending essential aid and is now working to manage the reception of people forced to flee the war; as a Municipality we wanted to give the widest collaboration to this event aimed at peace, the values of faith and sharing".

Continues Roberto Antenucci, physiatrist, among the promoters of the event organized in collaboration with the weekly newspaper of the Diocese "Il Nuovo Giornale" and with the Piacenza Il Farnese Lions Club, as well as with the Municipality: "We want to regain possession of this memory, because as Don Tonino Bello said "at the origin of every war there is the fading of faces".

“The message we intend to leave is to rebuild these faces with the strength of relationships, therefore art and music, to recover a more fraternal society and a world finally free from war, but this can only be achieved if each of us empowers one to the point of becoming a true Builder of Peace in one's own life and in the places where one lives".

“Two choirs will perform – adds Antenucci – “InCanto Libero” directed by maestro Cristian Bugnola and “Spirit Gospel Choir”, as well as a young surprise guest who will open the concert and on stage there will also be two dancers with their performance “Snodi ” and the testimony of Sister Milva, Mother Superior of the Scalabrinian nuns who gave hospitality to Ukrainian refugee women and children in their mother house in Casaliggio”.

Piacenza, “Armonie di pace”: musiche e danze contro tutte le guerre del mondo

“There will also be a reading on the theme of peace taken from the diary of Etty Hillesum, a Dutch Jewish writer who was victim of the Holocaust at just 29 years old: the passage does not only refer to Ukraine, considering that there are currently 34 wars underway in the world . The evening will be presented by the journalist Barbara Sartori".

The InCanto Libero choir is a social promotion association made up of around 20 people, united by the same passion for music and choral singing. It is a mixed voice choir formed in 2013 and directed by maestro Cristian Bugnola since 2015".

“The repertoire is varied and ranges from pop music to both sacred and profane popular tradition, with forays into blues and jazz. Over the years, the choir has begun to pursue goals that could have a positive impact on the existence of those experiencing difficult times, participating in events intended to raise funds to support the health and social welfare realities of the Piacenza area.

Spirit Gospel Choir, made up of more than 40 elements, was born in 2012 from the idea of a group of friends, led by director Andrea Zermani Anguissola, eager to live an immersive musical experience in a spiritual dimension that becomes prayer and sharing. An experience that leads to a different opening of the heart thanks to Gospel music in particular.

“Snodi” is instead an investigation aimed at exploring the theme of hugging, human relationships and the distance between two or more people. The performers Sara Chiodini and Beatrice Rossetti meet while waiting, in that process full of unspoken voices, tensions, expectations, in which attention and listening are cornerstones. The knot unravels and opens up other paths, connections on which to meet and recreate spaces and connections; a possibility in which giving and giving merge in a new bond.

The proceeds of the evening, which will be freely offered, will be donated to the Scalabrinian Sisters of Piacenza. To access, the recent anti-Covid regulations apply. The green pass is not required but the FFP2 mask is required.
