Pesaro. Third Day of artisan culture. Ricci: «Technology as an ally to face the challenge of sustainability»
«I thank Confartigianato for choosing our city for this important initiative, as part of Pesaro, the Italian capital of culture. A magical year, in which we are trying, through our program, to tell the nature of culture." Thus the mayor Matteo Ricci, who yesterday afternoon opened the third Day of artisan culture, at the Rossini Theatre, organized by Confartigianato. «One of the challenges of our time is sustainability, climate change is much faster than we imagine so the answer is not to slow down the ecological transition, but to accelerate it. In the relationship between nature and culture we have chosen technology, because it represents the great culture of doing things of our people, but also because it is the unifying feature to face the challenge of sustainability. It is no coincidence that we have chosen the Biosphere as a symbol of the Italian Capital of Culture 2024 and of the city to come", he recalled.
Artificial intelligence must be regulated but must not be experienced with fear, according to Ricci, who explains: «Talking about artificial intelligence also means not hiding the concerns it is causing in all those who are trying to better understand this epochal change we are experiencing. Concern and anxiety about issues related to freedom and democracy, because we risk no longer understanding what is true and what is false, therefore there is a need to regulate it. But I believe that artificial intelligence also opens up great new opportunities. I think of public administration, which could become faster and simpler. It will inevitably also concern production mechanisms. We are all worried about employment and how many machines will replace humans. But we must think that it is not the first time that this has happened in history, and every time that technological innovation has produced machines, work has been transformed."
Digital revolution, information technology «steps forward have been made, so it will happen in many sectors. There will always be a need for creativity and new ideas. Artificial intelligence will not be able to translate the typical creativity of Italians and people from the Marche, the ingenuity of our artisans, their desire to roll up their sleeves, the desire to find a new path. We must continue to deploy the typical dynamism of our land and our country"he concluded.
