Pesaro 2024, What a taste! The final of the “Gioachino Rossini Grand Gourmet” competition will be held on Thursday 7 March. Students from hotel institutes from all over Italy will participate

From 8am, the final phase of the challenge between Italian institutes dedicated to the gourmand side of the Pesaro Maestro will take place at the Santa Marta hotel in Pesaro. Awards ceremony between 12.30 and 13.30.

Pesaro 2024, What a taste! The final of the “Gioachino Rossini Grand Gourmet” competition will be held on Thursday 7 March. Students from hotel institutes from all over Italy will participate.

Will be held Thursday 7 March, the final of the “Gioachino Rossini Grand Gourmet” competition for hotel institutes designed to spread the word of Rossini's cuisine and demonstrate the 'industrious' nature of the culture of Pesaro 2024.

“The competition starts from the basic knowledge of Rossini's authentic basket – explains Daniele Vimini, deputy mayor of Beauty -. With this national challenge, and Capital, we ask the new generations to compare themselves with the taste of the Maestro and, through the training and analysis of ingredients and combinations that he loved, done in the classroom, to try his hand at dishes that draw from elements of the past to update them and make them tasty for today's palates".

Pesaro 2024, Che gusto! Giovedì 7 marzo la finale del concorso "Gioachino Rossini Grand Gourmet". A partecipare gli studenti di istituti alberghieri di tutta Italia.

The students of the third, fourth and fifth classes of food and wine, cooking, pastry making, dining and sales will present original and modern dishes to the competition jury, paired with a wine and Rossini music. This will be done by students of the Giancarlo De Carolis from Spoleto (“Tortelli in Crescendo” paired with an Altobella Doc 2022 from Colli Maceratesi and La gazza ladra); of'Ipsseoa Severo Savioli of Riccione (“Filetto alla Rossini on the Adriatic Riviera”, paired with a Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Coroncino and Six sonatas a quattro); the institute Ugo Mursia from Carini (PA) (“False stracciatella cone with cocoa, pearls and chocolate flakes”, paired with a Verdicchio dei castelli di Jesi classic reserve Docg “Rincrocca” 2020, La Staffa and the overture from La Cenerentola); the institute Flora of Pordenone (“Overture Rossiniana” which will be served with a Verdicchio di Matelica Doc to the notes of the overture from the opera Guglielmo Tell); the institute Panzini from Senigallia (“Macaron Rossini”, to dine with wine and sour cherries from the Landi Luciano winery while listening to the overture from the opera Guglielmo Tell).

Judging dishes and pairings will be the jury composed of: Elsa Mazzolini de La Madia (president); Roberto Franca, head teacher of the Santa Marta hotel institute; chef Giuseppe Portanova; Eliana Mennillo, co-owner of Rossini Bistrot; Giuseppe Giovanetti, expert on the 'gourmet' dimension of Rossini; Catia Amati, of the Rossini Foundation; Raffaele Papi, sommelier.
Also present on the final day of the competition was a delegation from the Novi Grad Sarajevo hotel institute.

The winning students will be awarded the title of “Gioachino Rossini Grand Gourmet” e they will have the opportunity to carry out an internship at the Portanova restaurant in Urbino while their institute will receive 1000 euros in kitchen or restaurant laboratory equipment. All participants will be issued a certificate of participation in the initiative.
