Oristano, take part in Buongiorno Ceramica!
On the initiative of the Departments of Culture and Productive Activities of the Municipality of Oristano, in collaboration with the Oristano Foundation, Pro Loco and Carlo Contini Art School, Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 May the historic center of the city will come alive with a series of initiatives for the promotion of ceramics between tradition and innovation.
Good morning ceramics! is promoted throughout Italy by the AICC, the Italian Association of Ceramic Cities, and sees the participation of 45 centers which throughout the next weekend will offer performances, workshops, concerts, aperitifs with the master, tastings, exhibitions, installations, guided tours, workshops, readings, and so on.
In every city you can go to discovery of shops, laboratories, ateliers in which on a daily basis the ceramic is designed and created. You will be able to meet the protagonists, the artisans, the young artists and designers, see them work, touch the clay, perhaps try to turn the wheel, enamel and understand the value of the handmade.
And you will be able to enter museums and galleries, follow themed tour routes, learn about centuries-old traditions and discover the most innovative creativity. Attend collective workshops or have small individual work sessions. Go shopping for unique pieces, discover at the table how much more beautiful the food served on an artisanal plate is or perhaps listen to music made with ceramic instruments.
Oristano will be present with specific initiatives for the valorization of ceramics, through the integration of the activities of the ceramists with those of the students, promotion towards all citizens and concrete actions of solidarity.
In continuity with the actions started in November with the project "A CERAMICS AGAINST VIOLENCE. LET'S CLOSE THE CIRCLE” some works created by local artisans will be put on display and their sale will help finance the activity of the Donna Eleonora anti-violence center and a professionalization path for the purpose of women's employment.
The role of the students will be central, with the direct commitment of those from the Carlo Contini artistic high school who will act as tutors for the younger middle and elementary school children to discover the world of art and creativity. The role of the students will be enhanced by a prize competition entitled "Eleonora's lands” which will reward the best works of those who attend the ceramics course.
The Buongiorno Ceramica program includes an exhibition of the artisanal productions of local ceramists, artistic workshops organized by the students of the Carlo Contini Art School of the Institute of Higher Education De Castro and the prize competition "Eleonora's lands” aimed at high school students.
Guided tours and participation in workshops by students from city schools are planned. At the Hospitalis Sancti Antoni, from 18pm to 20pm, the inauguration of the exhibition on artistic ceramics created by Oristano ceramists and art high school students.
