Oristano is also among the dozens of centers in Sardinia participating in the National Festival for Sustainable Development, scheduled until 20 October 2022

Oristano, also the protagonist of the National Festival for Sustainable Development

Thursday 13 October, from 15pm to 19pm, theEnvironment Department of the Municipality of Oristano and CEAS Aristanis they will announce “The Garden of Biodiversity".

The all-green event will be held near the headquarters of Environmental and sustainability education centre in via Morosini, in Sa Rodia. It promises to be an opportunity where citizens will be able to discover the Biodiversity Garden (with the biodiversity forest and the sensory garden), as well as learn about numerous green maintenance and pruning techniques for some plant species (thanks to the help of a specialized team).

In addition to the visit to the Biodiversity Garden, manual activities are planned aimed at caring for and maintaining the greenery, such as examples of correct pruning and planting of various plant varieties. Everything will be further accompanied by refreshments in the name of eco-sustainability.

The initiative is among the events of Festival for Sustainable Development Sardinia 2030 (promoted by the Regional Department of the Environment as part of the "Sustainable Development Festival 2022" and by ASVIS).

Maria Bonaria Zedda, Councilor for the Environment of the Municipality of Oristano, strongly underlines the importance of the initiative and its mission, i.e. raising citizens' awareness of the topic of sustainable development. It will be of fundamental importance to achieve the objectives set out in the2030 Agenda and promoted by Sardinia Region. Among these we find  a circular economy, a culture of inclusion, accessibility and cybersecurity, quality of public participation, research and innovation.

One of today's absolute priorities is certainly to increase participation by all citizens, businesses and local authorities, paying particular attention to the issues of Sustainable Development.

Involving the community in the protection and enhancement of public spaces, but also increasing the sense of belonging to certain city places are, for Antonio Ricciu (coordinator of CLOCK), some of the great prerequisites necessary to achieve the important goal set by this initiative.
