Naples, the 20th edition of the Chamber Music Festival kicks off

The Chamber Music Festival celebrates 20 years with concerts by international soloists, young talents and free masterclasses, enhancing historical places such as the Church of Santa Teresa and the Chopin Hall.

Naples, the 20th edition of the Chamber Music Festival is underway.

The “Chamber Music Festival”, organized by Napolinova and born in Villa Pignatelli in 1998 in collaboration with the Municipality of Naples and the Superintendency for Artistic Heritage, This year it is promoted and financed by the Municipality of Naples as part of the project “Naples City of Music” and reaches the important milestone of the twentieth edition, reiterating its three fundamental objectives: the valorization of the chamber repertoire towards an increasingly diversified audience, but always avoiding contamination and variations on the theme, the promotion of young talents and the valorization of often forgotten artistic sites.

Ferdinand Tozzi, delegate of the Mayor of Naples for the music and audiovisual industry, declares: “The Manfredi Administration proudly supports the 'Chamber Music Festival', now a classic of the city's cultural programming. And it does so not only because it shares the guidelines of the 'Naples City of Music' project and for the quality of the events on the program, but also because the festival opens a dialogue between past, present and future with suggestions that touch our sense of community, combining the beauty of some places in the city, such as the Church of Santa Teresa a Chiaia and the Chopin Hall of Palazzo Mastelloni, with the artistic offerings proposed by some of the great protagonists of chamber music. Without forgetting the training opportunities that are freely accessible, proposed with a view to educating new generations of instrumentalists".

The first objective of the festival will be achieved once again through concerts by soloists of international standing, united for the event with artists from Campania of great value, with specially prepared programs, offering the public real first performances with all the charm that this entails.

In particular, the three main events will see performances at the beautiful Church of Santa Teresa a Chiaia: on November 15, Gabriele Geminiani, an internationally renowned cellist, and Simona Padula, a renowned pianist from Campania, who will perform works by Beethoven, Schumann and Brahms, dedicated to this formation; on November 20 Simonide Braconi, viola soloist of the Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala and an artist of great fame, and Umberto Garberini, Neapolitan pianist and critic with a rich concert career, who will perform works by Schubert, Schumann and Brahms; finally, on November 29th Ilaria Cusano will perform, a violinist of international standing, present as a soloist in the most important theatres and member of internationally renowned orchestras, who together with her brother Dario Cusano, a pianist with an intense concert career and member of various chamber groups, will perform works by Mozart, Schubert and Elgar.

The promotion of young talents will take place through concerts held by young chamber groups that will be held in the beautiful Chopin Hall, at the historic Palazzo Mastelloni, who will thus be able to benefit from a program of international value. These three events will see the performance of: the Trio De Feo, composed of the brothers Davide, Alessandro and Gabriele, respectively clarinetist, cellist and pianist, who already have a rich concert activity; the Duo Kinari, composed of the cellist Gianluca Pirisi and the pianist Flavia Salemme, already present in important concert seasons; the violin and piano duo composed of Simona Russo, a young violinist awarded in important competitions, and the pianist Aldo Ruocco, also already active in several concert seasons.

Furthermore, the valorization of young people will also be achieved through the masterclasses held by Gabriele Geminiani for the cello, Simonide Braconi for the viola and Ilaria Cusano for the violin, which have always characterized this project, which for the first time will be offered free of charge, thus allowing anyone to participate, and which will offer three final recitals, always in the Chopin Hall, with tributes to the repertoire for cello, viola and violin. Finally, the valorization of often forgotten sites will be achieved through the choice of the beautiful Church of Santa Teresa a Chiaia, a treasure chest of great works.

"We would like to thank the Municipality of Naples for giving us the opportunity to resume, after a break of several years, this event, fundamental in the activities of Napolinova, and we hope that it can continue its path, returning to being a fixed appointment for the public and for young talents, also expanding, at an international level, its collaborations.", he claims Alfredo de Pascale, artistic director of the “Chamber Music Festival”.
