Modena, photographic exhibition on the Saharawi people.
"Saharawi a people worth knowing” is the title of photographic exhibition which opens on Thursday 22 December, at 11am, in the headquarters of District 1 in Piazzale Redecocca.
The exhibition, organized byKabara Lagdaf association on the occasion of its thirtieth anniversary, with the patronage of Municipality of Modena, exposes the images created by the freelance photojournalist Stefano Montesi which tell the story of the life of the Saharawi people in the territories occupied by the kingdom of Morocco, which does not recognize their independence, and in the refugee camps set up in the Algerian desert.
The exhibition, with free admission, will be open to visitors until Thursday 5 January and will be open in the morning (from 9.30 to 13) on 23, 27, 29 December, and 2 and 5 January; in the afternoon (from 15pm to 18pm) on 24, 28, 30 December, and 3 and 4 January.
The inauguration on Thursday 22 December will be attended bycouncilor for Europe and international cooperation of the Municipality of Modena Anna Maria Lucà Morandi, the councilor for International Development Cooperation of the Emilia Romagna Region Barbara Lori, Franco Bertolino, of the Kabara Lagdaf association and, in connection, Fatima Mahfoud, representative in Italy of the Polisario Front.
During the inauguration the video “Eucoco 2022 – Welcome to Berlin” created on the occasion of 46th European Conference of Solidarity and Support for the Saharawi People which took place, in fact, in Berlin on 2 and 3 December and in which thecouncilor Lucà Morandi, part of a delegation of representatives of local authorities and voluntary associations committed to supporting the Saharawi people. The video is produced by the editorial team of “Sahrawis Today" digital platform directed by Sahrawi boys and girls, committed to making the world and especially the new generations aware of the events of their people fighting for the recognition of the right to self-determination and independence.
