Milano. Ribbon cutting yesterday afternoon for the library calvairate. In fact, the final works on the completely renovated structure that overlooks have also been completed Piazzale Martini.
After the partial opening last spring, the renovation of this precious cultural and meeting point for the Calvairate neighborhood concludes. The library, which now has a total space of 1250 square meters (instead of the previous 900), has been affected by an important rethinking of functions and services.
In fact, on the first floor there is a new large multifunctional room which will guarantee the possibility of studying, but also of hosting courses, conferences and events. On the ground floor, however, citizens can take advantage of an area with books and multimedia for borrowing and consultation, together with a space for reading newspapers and periodicals. The area intended for the entrance and reception has been increased, while the central part of the library will host collections, a study area, a space for children and a coworking area.
The library is open from Tuesday to Friday from 9am to 19pm, on Saturdays from 10am to 18pm. To the page of Calvairate library more information and the possibility to subscribe to the newsletter dedicated to users are available.
«Today we conclude a journey that has allowed us to transform a very popular but old space into a new cutting-edge library with innovative functions - declares Pierfrancesco Maran, Councilor for Housing and Neighborhood Plan –. It will allow us to offer citizens a decidedly better study, learning and leisure experience and I am sure it will confirm itself as a fundamental place for the entire Calvairate neighbourhood."
«We are very happy to return its library to the Calvairate district, a point of reference for the entire area since 1969 – said the Councilor for Culture Tommaso Sacchi –. The services, consolidated and new, will find space in larger rooms, and the library will once again become that social and cultural hub necessary for every territory."
«It is wonderful news for the citizens of the Calvairate district and for all Milanese - declares Stefano Bianco, president of Municipality 4 –. Thanks to the works, the library will once again become the beating heart of the neighborhood and after the modernization works it will be possible to offer new services and jobs."
