Messina: the conference "Ancient grains: Between production and distribution" on Thursday 20 April.
Thursday 20 April from 17.30 pm the premises of Albatros Foundation (Viale Giostra n. 2), will host the conference “Ancient grains: between production and distribution”, organized by eight Lions Clubs of the 3rd District of the Sicily Lions District coordinated by President Andrea Donsì.
Institutional interventions are expected from the President of the Albatros Foundation Antonina Sidoti, the Councilor of the Municipality of Messina Massimo Finocchiaro, the Delegate for the Study Topic Vincenzo Damigella and the President of the Area Anna Capillo.
The reports by Biagio Pecorino of the University of Catania and the Director of the Department of Agriculture of the Sicilian Region Dario Cartabellotta will be followed by the presentation of the book “Ancient Sicilian durum wheat”, a multi-author collection, edited by Giacomo Dugo and Carlotta Crescenti, respectively President and Secretary of the Messina Tyrrhenum Lions Club.
This volume contains a series of scientific contributions, with the aim of rediscovering and valorising ancient Sicilian grains, which will be presented by Giuseppa Di Bella, full professor of Food Chemistry at the University of Messina. The startup of the University of Messina, Science4Life Srl, with Scientific Director Giacomo Dugo, supported and oversaw the printing of one hundred copies of the book, which will be offered to the speakers and the civil and Lion authorities present.
“The ITS Albatros, once again, is the protagonist of an event that promotes and enhances the heritage of the Sicilian territory. This is the turn of ancient Sicilian grains, the valorization of which represents the future for a healthier and more sustainable diet", declares Antonina Sidoti, President of the Albatros Foundation.
The works will be moderated by Giacomo Dugo and the conclusions will be entrusted to the Past Governor Francesco Freni Newfoundland.
