Messina, the third edition of the Film Club Festival kicks off from 23 to 26 November at Cinema Lux.

Dedicated to the theme of combating gender violence and in particular to the memory of Omayma Benghaloum, the event will host an exhibition of posters and storyboards entitled "Generazione Mai Più", created by the students of the Basile Art School, and the first city screening of the short film “Omayma”.

At the start third edition of the Film Club Festival scheduled from 23 to 26 November at the Cinema Lux in Messina. Dedicated to the topic of combating gender violence and in particular memory of Omayma Benghaloum, the event will host an exhibition of posters and storyboards entitled “Generazione Mai Più”, created by the students of the Basile Artistic High School, and the first city screening of the short film “Omayma”, produced by the Arknoah Association directed by Fabio Schifilliti (in program on Saturday 25 November from 18.00 pm, repeat at 19.30 pm and 20.30 pm).
Inside the festival container also a moment of study and research, the FICC Sicily regional congress, in which all the Sicilian film clubs that are part of the Italian Federation of Cinema Clubs will participate. In particular, the Congress will be dedicated to new perspectives of Media Education and the opportunities offered by the National Cinema Plan for Schools.

Among other events, we note: Friday 24 November at 18.00pm the presentation of the volumes "Wow!” by Nino Genovese, “The Cinema seen from Etna” by Mario Patané (respectively followed by screenings of “Once Upon a Time Angelo Musco” and “La Montagne Infidèle” by Jean Epstein) and “Popcorn and chips” by Renato Scatà (Saturday 25 November at 16.00 pm).

THE closing event on Sunday 26 November scheduled for 16.30pm, will feature the screening – again as a city preview – of the short film from the silent film era “The eye of Shiva”, rediscovered and restored by the Cineteca dello Stretto.
This initiative, which has the artistic direction of Nino Genovese, is promoted by Cineforum Orione, the Italian Federation of Cinema Clubs, the International Federation of Film Societies and Ficc – Sicilia. It is created with the support of the Sicily Region - Department of Tourism, Sport and Entertainment and Department of Cultural Heritage, MIC - General Directorate of Cinema, EUROPA CINEMAS, in collaboration with Centro Studi Cinematografici, Il Cineclub dei Piccoli, Versi di Luce and Tempostretto.

Thursday 23 November

16.30pm – 18.30pm – 20.30pm “My friend Massimo”, by Alessandro Bencivenga. In combination with the winning short film of the Cineclub dei Piccoli 2023 “Caramelle”.

Friday November 24

9.00 Inauguration of the “Generazione Mai Più” exhibition
18.00pm Presentation of the volumes “Caspèta!” and “The Cinema seen from Etna”. Followed by screenings of “Once Upon a Time Angelo Musco” and “La Montagne Infidèle” (free entry)

November 25-26

Regional Congress and FICC residential self-training course SICILIA

Saturday November 25

16.00pm Presentation of the book “Popcorn and chips” by Renato Scatà (free admission)
18.00 City preview of the short film “Omayma” by Fabio Schifilliti. Repeat at 19.30pm and 20.30pm (admission by invitation for the first screening, free for subsequent screenings)

Sunday November 26

16.30pm City preview of the short film “The Eye of Shiva” (1926, by the Mantovani Brothers, R. Gardenghi, 12'). Restoration by the Cineteca dello Strait.
