Messina, “EPIC”, the theater project in the suburbs, is coming to an end.

Will be "The Asshole Factory” di Kronoteatre e Maniacs of Love to conclude EPIC (Performative Experiences of Civil Engagement). The show is scheduled Wednesday 28 e Thursday 29 December   21.00 hours al Theater of the 3 Professions. 

This project to promote theater in the suburbs was carried out in Messina da Mana Chuma Theatre, in partnership with Latitudes Network e Theater of the 3 Professions, was supported with the contribution of Common of Messina and come on FUS funds (Single Fund for Entertainment) Of the Ministry of Culture.

EPIC (Performative Experiences of Civil Engagement) It started in the month of September, and in four months of planning resulted in City of Stretto over 50 shows in different locations: Forte Petrazza, Horcynus Orca Park, Santa Maria Alemanna Church and Theater of the 3 Professions.

Massimo Barilla founder of Mana Chuma Theatre, takes stock of these intense months: “We were present in four neighborhoods and we went through many different languages, with the use of a multidisciplinary system that involved not only theatre, but also literature, contemporary dance and music with innovative productions that bring all these disciplines together. It was a very rich program and we had a good time two UBU Awards this year, how Marco Cavalcoli e Kronoteatre and, overall, many companies of national and international importance were part of our programme".

“With EPIC we have given continuity to social intervention and innovation projects, with an excellent ability to take root in the suburbs. Therefore, not a cultural offering as an end in itself, but a process that has allowed us to insert ourselves into the territory. This is demonstrated by the relationships that have been created in this period, from a perspective perspective for new initiatives that are in continuity with what we have already achieved. This is the most important result”, concludes Barilla.

Presentation of the show:

The Asshole Factory (Production Kronoteatre and co-production National Theater of Genoa), was born from the surprising meeting between two companies, different but united by a merciless gaze on reality. Written by Maniacs of Love and directed by Kronoteatre, sees i on stage four historical members of the two formations: Thomas White, Francesco d'Amore, Luciana Maniaci e Maurizio Sguotti.

We are around the body of a woman. THE three: children must wash her, make up and dress her before the funeral. While they prepare it, they retrace small significant episodes of family life. These are neutral events but always experienced as terrible abuse, the perfect alibi for continuing a life without responsibility. For these characters, the blame for all their suffering, frustration and misfortune is always attributed to someone else: the cruelty of the opposite sex, the ferocity of bullies, the harsh world of work. But above all her: her mother.
