Messina: “Historical Beauties of Messina”, visits to thirteen city sites.
From Saturday 13th to Sunday 21st May, on pre-established days and times, it will be possible to visit thirteen sites in the city as part of the project “Historical beauties of Messina”. This is what was illustrated this morning, in the presence of the mayor Federico Basile and the councilor for culture Enzo Caruso, during a press conference at Palazzo Zanca, attended by Nino Femminó, president of the Roccaguelfonia Cristo Re association, promoter of the cultural initiative and tourism, as well as the managing body of the Votive Temple of Christ the King and the medieval tower, and representatives of other associations.
“'Historical Beauties of Messina' – declared Mayor Basile – is an initiative that opens up to the city, the territory and the citizens. Our cultural and artistic heritage deserves to be valorised, starting from our origins, as we need to project ourselves into the future, but always remembering the past. This is an opportunity to tell, first of all to us citizens, the history of our Messina. The administration's objective is to give visibility to the city well beyond its territorial borders, to make it attractive, welcoming and functional, and not just for transit. 'Historical Beauties of Messina' is a project born with the same spirit as the 'Via dei Tesori', to be extended to the Metropolitan City, because each municipality has its own peculiarities and characteristics".
“It is a laudable initiative – underlined councilor Caruso – which brings together numerous citizen associations and site managers, together with the municipal administration, who network in an activity aimed at relaunching Messina as a city of art, with high traditional and cultural value. The sites, which can be visited according to an established program, testify to the notable historical and architectural value of our city. This is another action launched by the municipal administration to enhance its beauty and is aimed at citizens, but also at hotel guests, who we turn to for the promotion of events, and at neighboring communities who want to visit our sites".
