Messina: “Io Capitano” is presented by director Garrone on Thursday 19 October at the Apollo Multiplex.

The director Matthew Garrone will present to Apollo multiplex in Messina, Thursday 19 October at 18.15pm, his latest film “Io Capitano”, together with two leading actors, debutants Seydou Sarr and Moustapha Sall.
This meeting with the Messina public, organized by the Apollo Multiplex, together with the Spazio Arte Association, will be introduced by Loredana Polizzi and moderated by the journalist Anna Mallamo.

The film, which won the Silver Lion – Award for best director at the Venice Film Festival 2023, is an Italy – Belgium production (distribution 01), tells the moving, dramatic and poetic contemporary Odyssey of two young people who from Dakar (Senegal), decide to face the dangers of sub-Saharan desert, torture in Libya, the dangerous journey in a boat full of migrants, to arrive in the promised land: Italy.
During the last edition of the Venice Film Festival, “Io Capitano” also won the Marcello Mastroianni Award best debuting actor or actress, which went to Seydou Sarr and was also indicated by Italy as a film in the running for the Oscars (best international film).

On the same day as Thursday October 19, Matteo Garrone, Seydou Sarr and Moustapha Sall, will be at Iris multiplex in Messina (17.15 pm) and subsequently at the Cinema Ariston in Catania (20.30pm – meeting at the end of the 18.30pm screening. 21.00pm – greeting at the start of the screening).
