“Marcenando – Art while walking” reaches its third edition.
The third edition of “Marcenando – Art while walking”, the project aimed at creating an open-air art gallery spread through the alleys and countryside of the village of Marcena. The appointment is scheduled Sunday September 17, will propose a whole day of initiatives for all ages in which art will once again be proposed as a tool for experiencing experiences of discovery of the territory, its nature, its history and its landscapes. Supported by the patronage of the Province of Arezzo and the Municipalities of Arezzo, Capolona and Subbiano, “Marcenando” finds its heart in involvement of numerous local artists who, year after year, donate their pictorial or sculptural works which are installed inside and outside the town to constantly enrich a permanent open-air exhibition, freely accessible to every citizen.
«We are proud and happy with this initiative, now in its third edition - comments Simon Pietro Palazzo, provincial councilor with responsibility for culture and municipal councilor. – “Marcenando” is a successful experiment in urban regeneration where people are committed to reclaiming their places, their traditions and their rituals, with an enhancement combined with the desire to be together but also to make those who are not native of the locality. All of this, with the key to understanding art and well-living».
The 2023 edition of “Marcenando” will be characterized byinauguration of twenty new works which are in addition to the hundred already installed in the previous two years. The heart of the day will be at 15.00 with theinauguration of seven solo exhibitions of various artists spread among corners, gardens and clubs of Marcena, with a painting workshop aimed at children and, above all, with the "Artistic walk” of two kilometers in the countryside around the town for a guided tour to discover the new installations. This last experience will be the real fulcrum of the event because, among the hills and landscapes on the outskirts of Arezzo, it will allow you to discover the close link created between art and the territory. The program of September 17th will then be punctuated by a series of initiatives that will develop throughout the day starting from the traveling lunch by reservation starting at 12.00. At 17.30instead, the meeting is planned in the named olive grove Camp Memento where a work by the master will be inaugurated Alexander Brown dedicated to the memory of the tragedy of the First World War, while at 18.30 the ribbon cutting of the house-museum will be held "Gianlorenzo Palazzi” with a permanent exhibition of the works of the well-known artist who died in 2015 and at 19.30 pm there will be the screening of a short film on art in Marcena created by the association Noidellescarpediverse within the project “Different Villages”. ' "Art brings everyone together under the Marcena sky” – he adds Barbara Lapini, president of the Marcenando association, – is the motto of this great event which aims to spread artistic beauty as a form of valorisation of the territory. The involvement of many artists has allowed Marcena and the surrounding towns to take the form of real museum-villages with a journey through dozens of installations that enrich the different corners of the territory and which will be possible to discover on September 17th among many engaging initiatives for all ages».
