Mantua, "culture and sport against violence against women": photographic exhibition and book presentation from 10 November.

Unmulti-event initiative: “Culture and Sport against Violence against Women” includes a series of events (photographic exhibition, meetings with schools and citizens, and the presentation of books) promoted in the month of November in occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
The initiative, promoted by the Municipality of Mantua in collaboration with the Fare Cultura Association, is carried out thanks to the contribution of the Tea Group and the Mantovana Community Foundation; media partner: SportdiPiù.

“This project is a big one opportunities for the city of Mantua and for the entire provincial territory – said the municipal councilor Chiara Sortino -. With the exhibition "50 female athletes from Mantua: yesterday, today and tomorrow" the department wanted to contribute to creating an original and innovative itinerary that allows visitors to retrace the history of women's sport in Mantua. A story that aims to give voice to the successes of individual athletes. The photographic exhibition also aims to be a collective testimony of the values that sport brings with it. It is no coincidence that this event is proposed to citizens in the month of November, the month in which the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (25 November) falls. Promoting gender equality, a key value for the world of sport, means keeping high attention on issues such as respect for women, the coexistence of diversity, the conciliation of life and work times, education for commitment and to sacrifice; giving voice to these stories also offers the possibility of encouraging and promoting the participation and growth of new young athletes. As for the events on the 27th we instead want to listen, dedicating the day both to high school students and to citizens. Thanks to the data that emerged from the survey conducted by Nielsen, we will have the opportunity to understand and delve deeper into the phenomenon of violence in sport and then we will have the precious opportunity to listen to the testimonies of some athletes. Thanks to this project it will be possible to share an important reflection on how to intervene from a preventive perspective, dismantling some stereotypes and adopting attention and precautions that can protect women who practice sport".
“Il Tea support to public initiatives against violence against women – added the president Tea Massimiliano Ghizzi – wants to testify lsociety's attention to this unacceptable plague, which affects all areas across the board, unfortunately including sports. The fight against femicide represents one of the global priorities. Among the sustainable development objectives that our Group is committed to achieving, there is also number 5, relating to gender equality and female empowerment. We do this with concrete and awareness-raising actions. This year, for example, we organized internal meetings for our employees dedicated to violence and its many forms. The issue therefore concerns us and this initiative is in fact an additional opportunity for us to affirm our position".
