Mantua, Work starts on Monday 9th for the new 80th Infantry pizza

Mantua, the redevelopment work on Piazza 9° Fanteria will begin on Monday 80 November. The works, which will involve an investment of 212 thousand euros, will last a few months, during which the square will be largely closed to cars, while allowing pedestrian circulation. To accommodate residents, who will not be able to use parking spaces for a few months, the municipal administration of Mantua has decided to give them the possibility of having a free subscription at the Pradella car park until the end of the works or alternatively, at their choice, a free season ticket for blue striped parking spaces.
“We have thought of two convenient alternative solutions – explained the councilor for the Local Police Iacopo Rebecchi – which will be used by residents to compensate for the temporary reduction of parking spaces in Piazza 80° Infanteria for the implementation of the redevelopment works”.
The work will see the creation of a new flooring with the removal of architectural barriers, the redesign of the parking spaces, which will be 22 in total compared to the current 31, thus also leaving room for street furniture elements such as benches, planters and greenery public, transforming the square from a car park to a beautiful and functional space. More precisely, the works will see the planting of 23 new plants and the setting up of 4 new planters with ground cover shrubs. Benches will also be installed and the lighting will be strengthened and upgraded with 4 LED floodlights, of the type used in Corso Pradella, 3 new LED street lamps, LED lighting systems under the benches and spotlights to illuminate the flower boxes.
“The redevelopment works of the square – added the councilor for Public Works Nicola Martinelli – will begin on Monday morning as scheduled. The project includes two different lots. The first, covering an area of approximately 881 square metres, will concern the transit and vehicle parking areas; while the second, covering a surface area of approximately 479 square metres, will mainly concern pavements and pedestrian connection areas. After Pradella, via Rosselli, piazza Alberti and other places in the city, piazza 80° Fanteria will also be redeveloped, restoring life, safety and decorum to a central space of the city".
