Lecco: Manzoni and historic vehicles in the Lago e Monti event.

In 150 anniversary of Alexander's death Manzoni, one of the greatest Italian novelists, the Valtellina Veteran Car (VVC), chaired by Luigi Frigerio, has paid homage with a dedicated event. It was held on 25nd June, starting from Lecco and arriving in Casargo, the event “Lake & Mountains" for historic vehicles, cars and motorbikes, with the patronage of the Municipality of Lecco and the collaboration of the Moto Velo Club Lecco 1922, which accompanied the participants to the San Giovanni district of Lecco.

I participants, after having breakfast, they went to Villa Manzoni al Caleotto, precisely to remember May 22, 1873, the day of his death. To the end of the visit to the building, the caravan of forty vehicles moved towards Casargo, crossing the entire Valsassina and touching the towns of Ballabio, Introbio, Primaluna, Cortenova, Taceno, Margno and Casargo, where the Hotel Professional Training Center (CFPA) held the lunch.

The Education and Sports Councilor of Lecco Emanuethe towers brought the greeting from the mayor Mauro Gattinoni and of all administration municipal, with an extensive speech in which he illustrated the importance of the historical writer and senator of the Kingdom of Italy, with the merit of having laid the foundations for the modern novel and of having sponsored Italian linguistic unity.

“I thank Valtellina Veteran Car for bringing this initiative to our city, the first of what I hope will be a long series. – so Emanuele Torri – This association combines the passion for historic vehicles with the promotion of cultural events: therefore, together with councilor Giovanni Cattaneo, we willingly accepted the request of president Frigerio and his representative in the city, Mario Monti, on the 150th anniversary of Manzoni's death , to organize an event in Lecco. The large and warm participation made us understand the need to continue on the path undertaken!”

A follow, awards of the participants and of most significant historic vehicles: heirlooms preserved for decades, polished with passion and proudly displayed at events like these. THE rewarded they are: Alfa 75 by Angelo Branchini, R4 Caraccio Ford Consul by Giorgio Ronchetti, Galletto Moto Guzzi by Maurizio Dell'oro, Lambretta 150 by Tommaso Ciapini. Typical local products also received an award, including Valsassina cheeses packaged by Giuseppe Valsecchi. The culture also manifested itself in the kitchen with the menu developed by the chefs of the CFPA of Casargo: executive chef Luca Villa in the kitchen, with the collaboration of the Maître Maurizio Calabrese, Rino Jannacci and his students.

Al end of the event, the president of the VVC Luigi Frigerio thanked the participants and the organizer, the motorcycle technical commissioner Mario Monti.
