On Saturday 27 May, at 17.30 pm, in the Augustinian cloister, the exhibition "Slavery and trafficking: broken lives between Africa and the Americas" will be inaugurated. A historical reconstruction”, created by the Amilcar Cabral Library of the Municipality of Bologna and organized by APS Voci della Terra, which will remain on display until 11 June (free entry, every day from 9.30am to 20pm).

After Bologna, Rome and Turin, the exhibition arrives in Lecce which is the background and the opportunity to delve into the events that have shaped the order of the current world, the countries from which the African slaves were deported, in many cases the same countries of origin of today's migrants, and the Afro-descendant cultures that sprouted in the countries of arrival.

The exhibition serves as a framework for collaborations with associations, groups, people interested in the valorization of African and Afro-descendant cultures, in overcoming every form of discrimination, in the construction of transcultural communities. The intent is to propose a dynamic use, in which the themes of the exhibition take on voice and presence, actively involving people of African origin and Afro-descendants, experts, activists, artists.

In Lecce it is organized in collaboration with the Municipality, the Coordination of Diasporas in Puglia - ETS, Unipop Interazione APS, Associazione Origens, HumanFirst and other associations.

Immediately after the inauguration, at 18 pm, the meeting “Middle Passage: from violence to transcultural community” is scheduled, hosted by Gabriella Melli with Charaf El Bouhali, Ana Estrela, Mamadou Toure, Alexander Kwaku Marfo, Cesare Pastanella, Cleidiane Pinheiro de Freitas, Modou Nget, Antonio Ciniero, Souleymane Barry.

World Toy Day is celebrated on Sunday 28 May, the date on which the International Toy Library Association was founded in 1987. The day refers to the UN convention on the rights of children and adolescents, which recognizes the right of boys and girls to rest and free time, to engage in play and recreational activities, and to participate freely in cultural life and artistic. In the talk scheduled for the morning, the commentary on the art. 31 of the Convention, which establishes the right of children to play, will be delivered to the Councilor for Culture Fabiana Cicirillo.

On this day, the national library associations, with other national bodies, promote initiatives to support games with an educational function, which transmit cultural models and psychomotor, cognitive and relational skills. The OgniBene Library dedicates the day above all to the connection between generations and has organized a rich program in collaboration with the Cosi Come Sei Association which will take place from 10am to 19pm between the internal spaces of the Augustinian complex and the garden.

There will be talks and round tables on the theme of gaming and a series of free activities and workshops created by Di.Vagare, Lecce Scacchi, Tana del Folletto asd, Zio Ludovico, Fondazione Emmanuel, I Fabbricanti di Sogni, Gdr Salento, L'angolo of the comic, Cirknos, City of the Sun and Club Roll the dice.

Between Agostiniani and Mura Urbiche, which will reopen to visits from 2 June, also hosting the Banksy exhibition, our intention is to create an attractive cultural hub for the people of Lecce and tourists immediately outside the perimeter of the historic centre".
