Lecce, Dantedì 2023: the national day dedicated to Dante Alighieri will be celebrated on March 25th.
Saturday 25 March is the national day dedicated to Dante Alighieri, the so-called "Dantedì", established in 2020 to pay homage to the great poet, symbol of Italian culture in the world, through a series of initiatives and activities organized throughout the national territory
For the 2023 edition, the Municipality of Lecce embraces a proposal from Virginia Valzano, technical-scientific coordinator of the CEIT (Euro-Mediterranean Center for Technological Innovation for Cultural and Environmental Heritage) and extends it to the Garden of Every Good, in the Augustinian complex, the multimedia project "Dante's journey" already created last year at the Salento Botanical Garden.
This project focuses on Dante's love for nature present in his works, in particular in the Divine Comedy, bringing him together with the cultural, environmental and naturalistic heritage exhibited in museums and botanical gardens with the help of an application multimedia that interactively involves visitors.
Specifically in the Garden of OgniBene, a path will be created among the botanical essences present, in which, through the use of QR codes positioned near the plants of interest, visitors will be able to reach the textual and multimedia contents published on a specific web application : the verses of the Divine Comedy referring to those essences, recited by Antonio della Rocca and accompanied by background music, the cards containing their characteristics, the presence in the national territory and in Salento, the botanical description, the habitat, the collection, use, properties and benefits. Accompanying the visitors, as special "guides", will be the students of the Siciliani high school. These are the opening times: 9.30am-13pm and 15pm-18.30pm.
For the occasion, the video "Dante ecologist and poet in the world" will also be screened. 'Divine' illustrations by Gustave Doré" containing the audio-video recording of the essay of the same name with the presentation by Massimo Bray, the voice of Antonio della Rocca and the musical background of Andrea Gargiulo and the animation of the illustrations by Dorè, accompanied by the music of Daniele and Mauro Durante.
«The Garden of OgniBene is rich in plant essences to which Dante dedicated verses in the Divine Comedy – declares the councilor for Culture Fabiana Cicirillo – such as laurel, fig, mulberry, apple tree, olive tree, oak , myrtle, lemon, papyrus, rose. For Dantedì we will discover all these essences to let those who participate know not only the profoundly ecological soul of our Supreme Poet but also to become aware, thanks to the verses of the Divine Comedy, of the richness of the plant heritage present in the Augustinian complex , which I remember can be visited every day from 9.30am to 19pm."
