La Spezia: Civic Theatre, children's theater program 2023-24 presented.

Six shows, all in double dates, on stage from January to March. At the Civic Theater of La Spezia The Children's Theater program is back, presented this morning in a press conference by the Mayor Pierluigi Peracchini, the artistic director Alessandro Maggi and the director of Cultural Services Rosanna Ghirri.

The offer of shows is aimed at nursery, elementary and middle school age groups. The formula of Sunday afternoons at the theater is back, much appreciated by very young spectators and their families.

“Six shows designed to spread the culture of theater to the new generations – declares the Mayor of La Spezia Pierluigi Peracchini – the theater is a beautiful place to get excited, dream and grow. We want the youngest to be able to experience it to the full with programming designed specifically for them that will have some nice surprises in store.”

“The 2023-24 TeatroRagazzi season of the Teatro Civico della Spezia – underlines the artistic director – is the result of reasoned choices that arise from the real awareness of the importance of the first approach to the theater for the little ones, the new spectators who, via away and hopefully, they will become the audience of the city's future. For this reason, the shows on the bill will lead the very young to immerse themselves in the special and fantastic universe of the stage thanks to a potpourri made of fun, games, dreams, emotions, stories and dance. Small and large stories that will allow a wonderful approach to the extraordinary world recreated in that magical box with a thousand possibilities that is the Theatre".

FREE HALF

freely inspired by “Il Visconte dimezzato” by Italo Calvino

Text, piano and musical direction: Gloria Clemente

Direction and lighting design: Simone Ricciardi

Video shoot: Leonardo Bertucci

Live Graphics: Phoebe Bonini

Scene: Alessandro Ratti

French horn and percussion: Pietro Sinigaglia

Electric bass and loops: Andrea Cozzani

“I think fun is serious.” With these words, Italo Calvino closed the preface of his Visconte Dimezzato way back in 1952, in harmony with the great Bertolt Brecht who considered entertainment the first social function of a theatrical work. Calvino tells the story of Medardo, a man cut in half by an explosion, whose adverse and dissonant parts survive: one charitable, the other cruel and ruthless. With a twist in time, we have moved the story into the present, or rather into a partly dystopian future, partly already before the eyes of all of us.

2052: An atomic bomb is dropped in a last-ditch effort to end a world war. Humanity emerges devastated but not exactly as imagined.

Guided and inspired by Calvino's lucid gaze, we will try to understand, in this mad rush towards the absurd, what can survive, because perhaps, "a complete viscount is not enough for the whole world to become complete".

LETTERS FROM FAR AWAY

Freely inspired by the work of Toon Tellegen

Directed by Elena Dragonetti

With Simona Gambaro Andrea Panigatti Raffaella Tagliabue

Many stories, many letters, many funny, clumsy, embarrassed or cheeky characters, in a carousel that alternates irony, play, poetry, questions as big as the world.

In Letters from far away, the new tout public proposal signed by Elena Dragonetti, the poetic language inspired by the work of Toon Tellegen, a well-known Dutch children's author compared to our Gianni Rodari, joins the choreographic and body work of the actors.

Bodies that transform, allow themselves to be crossed, lend themselves to exploring and recreating the suspended atmospheres of those seeking answers about the world, giving life to animals that look so much like us, capable of speaking to children and adults in such a direct way as to be disarming , even on topics of universal importance.

Recommended age: 5 to 11 years

EVIL

Text by Dario Vergassola

With Muffins

Directed by Manuel Renga

What were fairy tale villains like as children? And why did they become like this?

The comedian, writer and actor Dario Vergassola arrives at children's theater for the first time, asking himself these questions: thus Malefici was born, a musical to reflect on why the antagonists of fairy tales have become the way they are, without justifying their actions, but not even taking them for granted.

The direction is by Manuel Renga, already author, director and curator of educational projects linked to operas, performed on international stages, such as the Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris, the Opéra de Rouen and the Royal Opera House in Muscat. He also wrote the dramaturgical development, co-written with the playwright Elisabetta Tulli. The original music is by pianist and composer Eleonora Beddini and the choreography by Giuseppe Brancato.

The show does not want to justify the famous fairy tale antagonists for their actions, but nor does it want to take them for granted. The protagonists are the Evil Queen, the Grand Vizier, the Sea Witch and the Fairytale Wolf. All characters that hark back to the collective imagination of the most famous fairy tale villains.

Who said all wolves are bad? And that all ladybugs bring good luck? That dragons are scary? And who said bulls can't fly?

Once upon a time there was a good wolf who really wanted to have puppies, a witty dragon, an evil ladybug and... two bulls with wings! The story we tell looks deep into the heart, without stopping at appearances, without reading the world through those annoying labels that we too often put on people or feel ourselves.

A delicate, funny and language-rich show that tells of fantastic worlds and characters. A story that through the metaphor of animals (very popular in the imagination of children thanks to fairy tales) speaks of the value of diversity and the beauty of finding the right way to freely express the treasure that each of us contains within ourselves, and which It makes us unique and precious.

SOAPY RHYMES

Soap bubbles and poetry

Text Alekos Ottaviucci

With Alekos Ottaviucci

Music by Guido Sodo

Costumes and sets by Andrea Stanisci

Directed by Gabriele Duma

A sincere show, designed to dream, created around the most impalpable, evocative, delicate, surreal and fun object ever: the soap bubble.

The ancient game becomes a theatrical text to combine rhyming word theater with an original technique of soap bubbles and little magic. A narrative that stimulates on the fly without giving up content and that makes you dream with the poetry of soap bubbles, showing how fun, lightness and culture can coexist without being reduced to mere entertainment.

A luminous experience for everyone: families, children, utopian realists and concrete dreamers of all ages.

Recommended age: for everyone

Entrance (all-inclusive): €5
