La Spezia: 8th Palio del Golfo, Blue Festival, GOSP and other emotions

The appointments of July 31st and August 1st and 2nd.

La Spezia: 8th Palio del Golfo, Blue Festival, GOSP and other emotions.

The main elements of the upcoming events will be the music and the emotions that unite and make us reflect BlueFestival. It starts today, July 31, at 21.30 pm when a representation of the GOSP, Young Orchestra of La Spezia: Dino Dinelli will direct the wind and percussion section which will perform for about an hour.

La GOSP is inspired by the social and musical project El Sistema, created by the Venezuelan José Antonio Abreu, a musician and economist who also held the role of Minister of Culture. An educational experience born in the 70s is taken as an example throughout the world. It also spread to Italy thanks to great musicians such as Claudio Abbado. In La Spezia, the Giovane Orchestra Spezzina is made up of 90 children and adolescents aged 5 to 18 from the entire province, followed by social services, coming from family homes or attending youth centers in the area. Founded in 2013 with the support of the Carispezia Foundation in collaboration with the provincial socio-health districts, the Orchestra aims to offer the children and young people who participate the possibility of social redemption, of being protagonists and creating a bond in the name of inclusion and collaboration. Playing in the GOSP means, in fact, being part of a group and being a community. The very young musicians carry out collective lessons from Monday to Friday, at the Don Bosco Oratory in Canaletto, the Don Bosco Oratory in via Roma alla Spezia, the Youth Aggregation Center of Ortonovo and the Educational Assistance Community "La Casa di Gulliver" in Borghetto Vara; twice a month, on Saturdays, they all meet together for orchestra rehearsals in La Spezia. There are two ensembles: strings and wind instruments and percussion composed of 28 elements and they will be the ones to take the stage.

The program of BLUE FESTIVAL of the day of August 1st will see protagonists “The Ladies of the Palio”: this is, in fact, the title of the book dedicated to rowing machines which will be presented on Tuesday afternoon starting from 19pm, again on the stage at the beginning of Molo Italia. The volume, created by La Nazione in collaboration with the Committee of the Borgate, with the patronage of the Municipality of La Spezia, will give the opportunity for a comparison between the people of the Palio and the city. Participating in the meeting are Pierluigi Peracchini, Mayor of La Spezia, Massimo Gianello President, Committee of the Villages, Hon. Maria Grazia Frijia, Deputy Mayor Councilor of the Palio del Golfo, Francesca Micheli, Vice President of the Committee of the Villages, Luigi Caroppo, Deputy Director of La Nazione; journalists Roberta della Maggesa and Matteo Marcello moderate. Representatives of the Borgate and the partners supporting the project will be present: Fondazione Carispezia, Chamber of Commerce, Cna, Coop Liguria, Latte Tigullio and Audio Progress. The volume will be distributed free of charge with La Nazione on August 4th.

Tuesday evening continues with a show that takes us back to the center of the Festival's theme, the sea. Sergio Muniz, actor, musician, surfer, brings his latest show to the Blue Festival 2023, the recital "Tra le mie Waves". The sea has always been an important pivot in the artistic production of the Basque actor who, in fact, has often brought the themes of ecology and, in particular, the protection of the oceans to the stage and to music. “Among my waves” is a reduction of “The wave that will come”, the recital that Sergio Muniz wrote with director Francesco Facciolli and which, in 2021, was included by UNESCO in the global program of the United Nations Decade of Marine Sciences for Sustainable Development. With Muniz we will take a journey between music and words, which will lead us, between concert and narration, to discover the inner sea. The actor's return to our city is also a welcome one: a friend of Il Pianeta Azzurro, Muniz participated as a special guest in the La Spezia stage of the 2022 Ocean Film Festival Italia tour which stopped in La Spezia for the first time.

The program of BLUE FESTIVAL on Wednesday 2 August brings to the stage, at 21pm, science itself which can and must be told by involving people with an emotional narrative, even when it is done by experts and scientists. This is possible? This is the question that the speakers of the "Pianeta Azzurro" talk will try to answer, who will take turns on the Molo Italia stage with the stories of the projects carried out by Triton research, the organization that promotes and develops research aimed at preserving habitats and marine species . Furthermore, projects of an informative nature will be presented with the aim of increasing awareness and knowledge of the marine environment.

We will therefore meet Raffaele Grandi, vice-president of the Triton association, Triton Research (title of the speech "The Life Amar-Natura2000 project for the valorisation of the marine sites of the Natura 2000 network"); Francesco Tomasinelli, Triton Research (“Stopping extinction. The European Life Pinna project to save Pinna nobilis) and Paola Tepsich, CIMA Foundation (“Life Conceptu Maris, a project for the conservation of cetaceans and turtles in the Mediterranean Sea”). With them also Angelo Mojetta, marine biologist, scientific collaborator of "Il Pianeta Azzurro" and Marcello Di Francesco, underwater photographer from La Spezia whose exhibition was set up during the Food Blue evenings, kindly granted by SEAFUTURE.

Wednesday evening will then continue with a series of screenings, the first of which will be "A whale in a shell": the narrative, educational short film by the Triton ETS Association, a perfect combination of science and art, presented at the 79th Venice Film Festival , directed by Simone Vrech, with the narrative voice of Giancarlo Giannini and the friendly participation of Umberto Pelizzari. This will then be followed by the documentaries of the Sea Film Festival, those made by schools in La Spezia and a contribution made by the COMSUBIN divers regarding an underwater archaeological intervention carried out on behalf of the Superintendency of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape of Liguria.

Divers of COMSUBIN, in addition to participating in the docu-film review, will be present on Molo Italia, starting at 18pm, with a stand created by the Navy to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the establishment of the group. For citizens it will be an opportunity to get to know the COMSUBIN divers, observe their underwater equipment and acquire more knowledge about the many activities they carry out.
