Grosseto, the 2023 golden Grifone goes to Elisabetta Geppetti.

The board of directors of the Proloco Grosseto, with the president Andrea Bramerini, expressed his vote unitedly in the presence of the mayor Anton Francesco Vivarelli Colonna and to the councillor Cecilia Buggiani, representing the Province, for the assignment of Golden Griffin 2023.

This year's winner is Elisabetta Geppetti, said “The Lady of Morellino”, a great entrepreneur in the wine sector who distinguished herself for having enhanced the name and heritage of the Maremma.

In 1992 Elisabetta Geppetti was among the 12 founders of Morellino di Scansano Consortium, of which she is also the first President, the first female President of a wine consortium in Italy. A position that she also held for a second term from 2011 to 2013. In this role she is committed as an ambassador of the symbolic wine of the territory, working incessantly to raise its quality and perception at an international level.

In 2006 it was proclaimed “Winzerin des Jahres”, the winemaker of the year, by the prestigious German magazine “Der Feinschmecker”, the first Italian to obtain the award, recognition for merit “of having made Morellino di Scansano known throughout the world and having contributed to the fame and prestige of the Maremma as a wine region with a pioneering spirit and constant commitment to quality. In 2022 his Saffredi wine, with the 2019 vintage, is in the TOP 10 of the best wines in the world of the prestigious US magazine 2Wine Spectator", an unprecedented event for a Maremma wine.

The appointment, therefore, is next August 10th, the feast day of the city's patron saint, San Lorenzo, with the ceremony in Piazza Dante conducted as usual by the journalist Giancarlo Capecchi, which will see the participation of the Città di Grosseto orchestra.
