Grosseto: The “Conversations with Blue Gold” exhibition at the Giardino dell'Archeologia.

From June 25th to November 15th, water becomes the protagonist of the open-air exhibition spread throughout the historic center of Grosseto with “Conversations with Blue Gold”, by the Swiss artist and photographer Giacomo “Jack” Braglia, edited by Beatrice Audrito. Six large sculptures, scattered throughout the streets of the historic center of Grosseto (between Piazza Dante and the Giardino dell'Archeologia), tell the story of the water emergency we are experiencing.

An artistic foray in which Braglia transforms his shots into three-dimensional sculptures and installations thanks to alternative photographic supports, such as plaster busts, shields, classical mouths and pyramids. These are then covered with images to allow photography to conquer the third dimension.

Thirteen photos were chosen to describe a current and environmental theme. These photos which, by describing the richness of water and its importance, demonstrate the risk of scarcity, involving the visitor on the theme of blue gold.

The objective is to raise public awareness of responsible water consumption. An urgent reflection, today more than ever of great relevance, which focuses attention on our present.

“Water represents one of the most serious problems of our times, a source of hoarding wars, it is the black gold of tomorrow – comment the mayor Antonfrancesco Vivarelli Colonna and the councilor for Culture Luca Agresti – We must learn to use it in a more responsible, promoting the culture of saving right from the start. We must intervene and we must do it now. Each of us, in our own small way, can do something. Turning off the tap when not needed or limiting the use of high-water consumption appliances are just some of the behaviors we can implement to safeguard our planet. The invitation of the young Swiss artist and photographer is to rethink the current use of natural resources and limit the impact of human activities. Through different expressive languages and innovative artistic forms, the artist leads the viewer to a profound reflection on the future of our planet and the importance of protecting it."

The exhibition project is promoted by the City of Grosseto and the “Gabriele and Anna Braglia Foundation”, with the patronage of the Tuscany Region.

The Gabriele and Anna Braglia Foundation and the artist support the project to safeguard the marine environment against trawling promoted by La Casa dei Pesci di Talamone, with a donation of €5.000. Thanks to this gesture, the Association will be able to put a new sculptural block into the sea which will implement the "Open Sea Museum" of sculptures already placed underwater, in defense of the natural marine habitat.

The exhibition, which is part of the splendid setting of the Archeology Garden, will be inaugurated on Sunday 25 June at 18.00 pm.
