Grosseto, time passes and those who can testify today will not be able to do so forever: a ceremony for the Holocaust.

The duty of memory takes on a more important value with each passing year

Grosseto, time passes and those who can testify today will not be able to do so forever: a ceremony for the Holocaust.

On 27 January, at a national and international level, Remembrance Day is celebrated to commemorate the extermination and persecution of the Jewish people, of the Italian military and political deportees in the Nazi camps, of all those who opposed the final solution wanted by the Nazis and also of all those who did not fit into the vision of society imposed by the fascist regime.
“As the years pass – explains Luciano G. Calì, president of the “Norma Parenti” Provincial Committee of the National Association of Partisans of Italy – the duty of memory takes on a growing value to transmit to future generations what direct witnesses can no longer tell. The meaning of their testimony must be renewed to strengthen the signal of what must never happen again."
“Like every year – add the mayor of Grosseto Antonfrancesco Vivarelli Colonna and the president of the city council Fausto Turbanti – January 27 becomes an opportunity for reflection and meeting to remember millions of people who have become victims of a dark, blind, inhuman madness. Faced with the denial of man and his rights, the objective remains that of nourishing and preserving memory, especially for the benefit of young people who, over time, risk losing their knowledge and scope."
The Remembrance Day ceremony will be held at 10 am on January 27th in Piazza Duomo (in front of the Town Hall).

Grosseto, il tempo passa e chi oggi può testimoniare non potrà farlo per sempre: una cerimonia per l’Olocausto.
