Crotone: one of the most loved sports facilities, the CONI swimming pool, comes back to new life.
“A historic day for Crotone, because through the redevelopment of the CONI swimming pool, One of the most popular sports facilities as Crotone people, we give back to the community an asset that "tells" the history of the city, not only sporting history"
Mayor Voce said this during the press conference held yesterday morning in the Council Chamber on the occasion of the presentation of the redevelopment project of the CONI swimming pool located on the city seafront.
Conference in which the councilor for Sport and Sports Facilities participated with the mayor Luca Bossi, the doctor Stefania Argenti Archaeological, Fine Arts and Landscape Superintendent for the provinces of Crotone and Catanzaro, Francesca Pellegrino CONI provincial delegate, the municipal manager Clara Caroli and the design team led by the architect Domenico Esposito of “Settenta7”
It was councilor Bossi which traced the path that led to yesterday's result.
After the affirmation obtained by the Municipality of Crotone in the prestigious tender of the Presidency of the Council "Italy City Branding 2020” with the project proposal “Kroton – Renewal and Sport” with which the organization obtained funding for interventions on city structures with the aim of increasing the attractiveness of the area through the joint promotion of cultural and sporting offerings, we moved on to the executive planning phase.
The tender was called for the assignment of architecture and engineering services for the definitive, executive design. At the same time, the document was signed with the Harbor Master's Office which formally handed over to the Municipality of Crotone the state-owned maritime area of 4.781 m6,2 where the structure currently stands in order to allow its redevelopment, which will be implemented thanks to CIS funds Calabria for XNUMX million euros, of which the organization was the beneficiary thanks to the work carried out by the structure responsible for complex programs.

“It is an intervention that brings with it the virtue of pragmatism and concreteness, a way of doing politics that leaves no room for false promises, but is oriented towards providing solutions and giving answers to the community. An identity structure that will shine again, a project born with the Voce administration and designed for the community, with particular attention to the possibility of holding water polo championships thanks to the 33 meter pool. We are already focused on the next phases, with the aim of publishing the tender for the execution of the works by the month of November" declared the councilor Bossi.
Then the time has come to reveal how the people of Crotone and beyond will be able to "relive" the Coni swimming pool.
An innovative structure which with the appropriate technical and functional updates for use safeguards the historical memory of a place dear to citizens, accessible to citizens even in the winter months with an opening glass roof, which will give visual continuity between the pedestrian area and the beach and with high energy efficiency. There will also be aMuseum-Bar area and a square in front of the beach to enjoy the incomparable naturalistic context.
“We are thrilled to present the new municipal swimming pool of Crotone, a project signed by Settanta7 which embodies the essence of the positive impact that we and the municipal administration want to leave to the towns and citizens” he claims Domenico Esposito, Product Owner of Settanta7, “this project has the right credentials and the ambition to transform itself into one of the most important places in the City. The swimming pool it's not just a building, but a tribute to the great history of swimming and water polo in Crotone. We promise that this facility will be a pop icon, bringing new life and vitality to this historic and important city in the world of water sports. We are incredibly proud to contribute to this project of enormous value for Crotone and we thank the Administration for the great synergy that has been created".
