Crotone: “Calabria for Dante” on 13 May

Crotone: “Calabria for Dante” on 13 May.
“Calabria for Dante” it is an original project, produced for the first time on the occasion of the 700th anniversary of the death of the Supreme Poet, then postponed due to covid and now finally implemented for the year 2023. It intends to represent the contribution of the extreme region of the peninsula , which in the Comedy has four citations to Dante's lesson.
Music will be the underlying theme of this original reading of Dante and Calabria: in particular with reference to the musical instruments mentioned in the Comedy.
The project unfolds over several moments which will be held starting from May 13th at the Helping Tower of the Carlo V Castle
1) An exhibition entitled “LA CALABRIA IN THE DIVINE COMEDY” with the reproduction and explanation of the passages in which Calabria is mentioned.
2) A second exhibition entitled “CALABRIAN IN DANTE'S LANGUAGE” with the reproduction and interpretation of passages in which words from the Calabrian dialect are present, compared with folkloric poetic use;
3) A video installation entitled: “TRAVELING WITH DANTE” original project by director Lamberto Lambertini. Twenty-one hours of film, 100 films of 12 minutes each, the entire Divine Comedy with the 14.223 verses that compose it, a unique project in the history of Italian culture, accessible to anyone, retraces the poem of the Comedy in its entirety and was born from the will to read Dante on the images of today's Italy, from North to South, from the Center to the Islands, in an attempt to represent an Italy united precisely by the language of the Florentine poet.
4) A conference-concert entitled “STILNOVISTI DI CALABRIA”, held by Danilo Gatto with the participation of the singer Salvatore Megna, on the continuity between the poetic school of the 1200s and the popular poetry of Southern Italy;
5) A second conference-concert entitled: TOOLS IN COMEDY AND IN CALABRIA held by Prof. Vincenzo Lavena (ethno-organologist) with the participation of Antonio Critelli; the instruments mentioned in the Comedy will be shown and played, as well as others that have remained in the use of the Calabrese oral tradition;
6) A concert entitled POLIFONIE DI CALABRIA, held by the Le Mystère des Voix Calabre Group, with reference to the numerous citations of the concepts of harmony, polyphony, concert, found in the Comedy;
7) The concert by the Phaleg group which reworks the methods of ancient music and the use of original instruments in a contemporary key.
