Cremona, 15 March 2021 – March 15th is the National Lilac Ribbon Day dedicated to eating disorders, institutionally recognized in 2018 by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers. Lilac is the symbolic color of the awareness campaign launched at a national level by many associations together with bodies and institutions. The Municipality of Cremona, in collaboration with the Lady Tramp Group, which has been active in the city for years, will also illuminate the windows of the Town Hall for the occasion as well as placing a drape on the balcony of the "Ala Ponzone" Palace in Corso Vittorio Emanuele II.

In Italy there are many young people who suffer from eating disorders (DCA), mostly girls, women, but also boys and, in recent years, there has been a notable decrease in age, with a consequent high risk of permanent damage for health, secondary above all to the state of malnutrition. Eating disorders, in addition to the heavy physical consequences, also have a significant impact on the social and psychological sphere of the person, limiting their relational and working abilities.

Recently the Regional Council unanimously approved the bill "Provisions for the prevention and combating of eating disorders and support for patients and their families" which introduces tools, actions and measures to prevent and treat eating disorders . The provision provides for the establishment of a regional network for the prevention and treatment of nutrition and eating disorders. In addition to the implementation in each ASST (Territorial Social Health Authority) of outpatient interventions for early interception, diagnosis and possible referral of patients to the most appropriate structures.

Anorexia and bulimia are the most well-known nutrition and eating disorders, but there are many other different ones. To get to know them and learn more, the Soropotimist International of Cremona is organizing the meeting today, at 18 pm, via videoconference The new eating disorders.
