Como, the tie, the emblem of male elegance, is on display at the Silk Museum.

The exhibition "The backbone of a man - History of the tie" was inaugurated. A distinctive element for armies of fortune since the seventeenth century, the tie has passed through history, becoming the protagonist of stories and treatises on its use and meaning, becoming, from the second half of the nineteenth century, the absolute emblem of male elegance. The exhibition can be visited until May 29th at the Silk Museum (Como, via Castelnuovo 9) from Tuesday to Sunday from 14.00 pm to 18.00 pm.

«This exhibition fits perfectly into the constellation of initiatives that accompany the designation of Como as a UNESCO creative city – declared the mayor Mario Landriscina – It is becoming increasingly important to be aware of our excellence, which the world recognises. Como has contributed to the history of the tie by also demonstrating a particular creative ability on the product, in the processing of fabrics, and now, more currently, thanks also to its ingenuity and technological solutions, moving towards sustainability. I thank one by one all those who collaborate on these initiatives, enhancing our city, our territory, our entrepreneurs, our workers, our creatives."
