Choco Italia: Matera is ready for sweetness from 19 to 22 October in Piazza Vittorio Veneto.
He returns to Matera for the second time Choco Italy, the traveling artisan chocolate fair. From Thursday 19th to Sunday 22nd October, in Piazza Vittorio Veneto, it will be possible to approach the varied world of homemade chocolate and its producers. The event is ad free entry, uninterruptedly from 10 am to midnight.
The initiative is organized with the patronage of the Municipality of Matera, thanks to the mayor Dominic Bennardi and to the councillor Tiziana D'Oppido, by the UNOE National Union of Event Organizers and by the Association The Chocolate Way, with the collaboration of various local associations: Matera Chefs Association, Association AMIRA Basilicata, Assopanificatori Matera, Confesercenti Matera, Pro Loco of the City of Matera between history, culture and traditions.
Choco Italy it is a project ofItaly Events Association, which was the winner of the Call for Markets of the city of Matera.
Among the new features this year there will be “The Healthy Snack”. Visitors will be offered fresh artisanal bread from Matera accompanied by an artisanal spread made with hazelnuts Giffoni PGI, thanks to the participation of the Matera bakers of Mater Assopanifiersa and of Confesercenti Matera. A healthy snack idea that brings you closer to quality products, in support of solidarity. This time the project will support theADMO Basilicata.
An international network for quality chocolate
The Chocolate Way represents the first international network that celebrates the culture, tradition and history of chocolate in Europe. The goal is to promote and place connecting the historic European chocolate districts of high quality, to rediscover and promote its tradition, culture and value. Italy Events is one of the members of this international association.
The first one will also be present at the Matera stage European factory of artisanal chocolate from master chocolatiers from perugia, which will illustrate all the processing phases that lead from the cocoa bean to the creation of bars and other classic formats. It will be active every day 10 - 21 and will also host students from the city's elementary and middle schools.
The Choco Italia program between workshops and shows
With the busy program of workshops and shows we will start from Thursday morning 19 October. From 9.45am to 13pm it will be possible to learn about the Bacio dei Sassi (Matera Truffle), the cannoli made from Matera bread with ricotta and chocolate and the Matera strazzata glazed with chocolate thanks to the “A. Turi” of Matera.

Choco Italia products
They are seven regions which, with their products and producers, will characterize this third autumn stop in Matera by Choco Italia. In addition to some Matera products, a sweet load of cantucci, classic and otherwise, will arrive from Tuscany.
From Umbria one will arriveartisanal chocolate company from Perugia which will offer chocolates and bars, but also discs with hazelnuts, berries and almonds.
From Campania it will be possible to find a company Angri which produces artisanal chocolate and cremini of all flavours, including an alla type Annurca apple.
