Cagliari and its Municipality celebrate with colours, masks and Carnival traditions

All ready to Cagliari and in the Municipality of Pirri to celebrate Carnival 2024 with a series of events that promise to transform the city into a riot of colors and fun. The press conference hosted this morning at Palazzo Bacaredda revealed the details of a program full of traditions and celebrations.

Today (8 February), Fat Thursday, the party will start with a procession at 17pm from the Bastione. The route will cross the historic districts of Castello, Marina, Stampace and Villanova, livening up the streets with masks, drums and dances.

The fun continues on Sunday (February 11) with “Carnival in the family”, another unmissable event. The departure from Piazza Garibaldi at 17.30pm will be followed by a festive march, crossing the shopping streets and reaching Piazza Yenne.

The celebrations will continue on Shrove Tuesday (13 February) starting at 18pm in Corso Vittorio Emanuele II. Along the route through via Manno, piazza and via Garibaldi, “this year the celebrations will not culminate in the square of via Santa Margherita with the spectacular burning of King Cancioffali for safety reasons”, announced Matteo Putzu of ACS Senza Confini, who coordinates the organization of the event. For the same reasons the allegorical floats will not parade either.

The ratantira, the parades and the liveliness of tradition will be the undisputed protagonists of these days of celebration, uniting adults and children in an embrace of carnival joy. Like the Pentolaccia of Sunday 3 March at the Fishermen's Village where from 18pm there will be games, entertainment, shows with street artists and, in a reduced form, the Canciofali fire.

At the meeting with reporters this morning on Thursday 8 February, in addition to Matteo Putzu, Mariano Strazzeri, Fabrizio Aramu and Omar Lecca, respectively from ACS Senza Confini, Paese Villaggio Pescatori, Sa Ratantira casteddaia and Gruppo Viking who take care of the organization of the “Cagliari Carnival” 2024 together with the Tuvumannu association, also Rita Atzeri of the Il Crogiolo association, which instead organizes “Su Carrasciuali pirresu”.

“Started January 28 – Atzeri explained – the celebrations in Pirri continue today, Fat Thursday, at Casa Saddi. With a 1 euro ticket you can attend the theater show “Nais (Rami) at 17 pm and at 20.30 pm “The dream of a ridiculous man”, based on a story by Dostoevkij”.

It continues on February 11th, Carnival Sunday, at the Parco della Vetreria, with the mask parade from 11am and 12pm “Bingo and the magic of soap bubbles”. At 17pm Casa Saddi will welcome “Pink Fragments”, at 19.30pm “Lullaby for Peace”.
