Brescia, support for cultural operators
Brescia, The "Support for cultural operators" tender will be published in the next few days with which the Municipality of Brescia allocates 250 thousand euros in non-repayable contributions to organizations that produce and promote culture in the city.
Financed with a portion of the fund set aside for economic-social support measures related to the Covid-19 health emergency, the tender intends to provide help to the many and very heterogeneous entities, in particular small and medium-sized ones, which with the their activities participate in the richness of the city's offerings in the field of theatrical, musical, dance, photographic, cinematographic production, dissemination and training and, more generally, all creative and artistic expressions, as well as educational promotion aimed at the growth of the community .
For a specific opening intent, the eligibility requirements and fields of activity are broad, while the required documentation is minimal.
The multiple and complex facets of the lively cultural sector have suggested considering the 2019 expenditure volume as an element of evaluation and parameterization of the assignable contribution, easily and unequivocally demonstrable by the applicants through the final balance sheet, a tool that also guarantees transparency and objectivity. Above all, it is a criterion that allows us to give weight and highlight the operational capacity of the various subjects in a "normal" year, compared to a 2020 characterized by forced and often total inactivity.
This will allow many - be they associations, cultural businesses, VAT numbers - to be able to obtain at least the basic amount of 500 euros. The amount of the contribution then grows according to brackets related to the volume of expenditure, up to a maximum of 4.500 euros.
It is therefore a call that chooses to operate to reach a wide audience, even at the risk of seeing all contributions reduced downwards in the event that the number of requests and the total amount that can be assigned exceed the available allocation.
“For some, the resources that will arrive with this announcement will make the difference, while for others, I am aware, it will be a small thing” observes the Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Culture Laura Castelletti. “But it is something, and above all it wants to be a tangible sign of the fact that this administration recognizes that sector operators have an extraordinarily peculiar role in the social and economic development of our community. This is 250 thousand euros in addition to the economic but also organizational commitment made this summer by the city administration to bring artists, shows and writers back to the squares, halls and stages, in safe environments and in highly evocative contexts".
Complementary to this line of direction, the Administration is already planning a second tender, scheduled for the first months of 2021, aimed at the design and ability to activate innovative content and sustainable management models.
