Ancona that shines: grand finale for the Christmas holidays with the tribute concert to Pino Daniele with the Macabea band and the extraordinary participation of Tony Esposito

Sunday 7 January, at 18.30 pm, Piazza Roma hosts the tribute concert to Pino Daniele nine years after the death of the well-known Neapolitan singer-songwriter (which occurred on 4 January 2015) with the Macapea band and with the extraordinary participation of Tony Esposito. Macapea band will perform a soul repertoire dedicated to Pino Daniele with Massimo di Matteo on vocals and guitar, Andrea Zaccari on bass and Danilo Brugnini on drums, Massimo Saccutelli on keyboards. In case of rain, the event will be postponed to Sunday 14 January.

“At the end of a very successful journey of the Christmas programme, characterized by quality musical moments – explains the councilor for major events Angelo Eliantonio – we host esteemed artists in the heart of the city for a tribute to Pino Daniele with the extraordinary participation of Tony Esposito, further embellishing the Christmas event which saw the presence of thousands of people in Ancona; citizens but above all people coming from other areas of the Marche, thus confirming the achievement of the objective we had set ourselves, namely that of bringing back the central role of Ancona, not only for its province but for the entire region".

The presence of Tony Esposito, that with Pino Daniele has collaborated on several occasions, will give the appointment a very particular charm. Esposito, whose music is inspired by sounds from many countries around the world, mixed with tribal rhythms and melodies typical of Neapolitan music, boasts prestigious collaborations, both in the field of Neapolitan metropolitan blues and funky jazz: Pino Daniele, James Senese, Tullio De Piscopo, Roberto Vecchioni, Alan Sorrenti, Francesco Guccini, Edoardo and Eugenio Bennato and international musicians including Don Cherry, Billy Cobham, Gilberto Gil, etc.. The talented percussionist, known to most for the success of his very successful “Kalimba de luna” in 1984, has 16 studio albums, soundtracks and numerous hit singles to his credit.

It will be an intense and exciting concert, in which you will feel the atmosphere of what was defined in the 80s the “Neapolitan Renaissance”. The engaging and enthralling rhythms of the well-known percussionist will involve the public in a whirlwind of emotions to remember Pino Daniele and bid a worthy farewell to the holiday season.
