Ancona presents the annual ICOM assembly: guests include over 140 representatives of museums and a specialized audience. 

The annual meeting of ICOM Italia members, the association that brings together Italian museums and museum professionals and which is part of the International Council of Museums, opens today, Friday 19 April, at the Ridotto del Teatro delle Muse in Ancona.

Over 140 representatives of the associated museums, among the most prestigious in Italy, and a specialized audience will speak in Ancona.

The International Council of Museums, international non-governmental organization, brings together over 37.000 members and museum professionals from all over the world in a single network. It represents a place of debate composed of experts from 138 countries and territories. It is made up of 119 national Committees, with over 2.000 museum professionals and 30 thematic International Committees. Globally, there are over 20.000 museums associated with ICOM.

"The ICOM 2024 annual event – explains the Councilor for Culture Anna Maria Bertini– was strongly supported by the Culture Department of the Municipality of Ancona and the Marche Region due to the high value and strategic relevance that ICOM has at a national and international level. It is the first time that ICOM holds the annual Assembly and the three days in the Marche and we are honored to have them as our guests in Ancona. The Mole Vanvitelliana will be the physical place that will host the works of the ICOM and visits to the Vanvitelli and Polveri rooms are planned for participants, which host a review of the works of the F. Podesti civic art gallery and the exhibition “From Futurism to Informal: the masterpieces of the Mart”; the immersive exhibition “Pentagon. The golden reason of beauty”; the Homer Museum. The synergy that has been activated between ICOM and the culture department of the Municipality of Ancona is important, which represents the beginning of a path in which Ancona becomes the protagonist".
