Rome: Weapons and ammunition cache discovered, 56-year-old repeat offender arrested
It was a joint investigation by two different investigative offices of the State Police. lead to the seizure of a small magazine in a house in Aprilia. The owner, a fifty-six year old already convicted of specific crimes, ended up in handcuffs. The judicial police teams of the Anzio/Nettuno and Spinaceto police stations, during their daily investigations, discovered that a man, already burdened by a criminal and police record for weapons-related crimes, was hiding a significant quantity of weapons and ammunition in his home in Aprilia.
During the investigations it also emerged that the person under investigation today was also the recipient of a provision from the Police Commissioner which strictly prohibits him from possessing any type of weapon. Once the findings have been completed, The police showed up at the fifty-six-year-old's door to carry out a search: inside a closet, there were two safes and – in one of them – were kept a Beretta pistol, stolen about 2 years earlier, with 4 magazines; a 9×9 caliber HS-21 pistol with 16 rounds; a homemade 22 caliber pistol shaped like a pen; 860 bullets of various calibers and two flare pistols considered common firearms.
At the end of the formal proceedings, the man was arrested because he was seriously suspected of illegal possession of a homemade weapon, common firearms, ammunition and also of the crime of receiving stolen goods related to the stolen gun.The Prosecutor's Office requested and obtained from the Preliminary Investigations Judge the validation of the arrest and the application of pre-trial detention in prison. The fifty-six year old will therefore remain detained in the Latina prison, while investigators are working to trace the origin and/or intended use of the seized material.
Furthermore, others two stops were carried out in lower Lazio by the agents of the Anzio/Nettuno police station: a thirty-two year old man, who was hiding 19 doses of cocaine, a few grams of marijuana and around 50 grams of hashish in his house and a thirty year old woman, who was keeping a few grams of crack, marijuana and hashish in an apartment she was using. In both cases, the Judiciary has validated the actions of the State Police. In any case, all the suspects are to be considered presumed innocent, in consideration of the current phase of the proceedings, that is, that of the preliminary investigations, until a definitive determination of guilt with an irrevocable sentence.
