Beaten on the street in Ventimiglia, he dies after a week of agony.

He died after a week of agony at the Santa Corona hospital in Pietra Ligure Julian Roberto Mascheroni, 60 years old, resident in Ventimiglia. The man was attacked on the evening of October 26th in the city centre, following a violent altercation that broke out in the street.

According to what was reconstructed by the investigators, Mascheroni was talking to a woman when a 46-year-old man, Simone Pensibene, approached him. ex-partner of the same woman, who attacked him with extreme violence. The incident unfolded in a few minutes but was brutal: the attacker allegedly punched and kicked the victim several times in the face and head, causing her to fall to the ground.

It is not only the dynamics that are confirmed surveillance cameras of the area, but also the testimony of a trader, who witnessed the scene and provided investigators with a detailed account. In the footage, acquired by the Carabinieri, you can clearly see the blows and the moment in which Mascheroni tries to get up, staggering.

Despite the wounds, the sixty-year-old had managed to reach the Carabinieri barracks for file a complaint against the aggressor. But just as he was reporting the incident he felt ill and was immediately assisted. Transported to the hospital in Bordighera, his conditions appeared serious: the doctors ordered his transfer to Holy Crown of Pietra Ligure, where he was admitted to intensive care. After seven days of fighting, the man died due to a severe cerebral hemorrhage caused by the trauma suffered.

The alleged attacker had been arrested that same evening by the Carabinieri on charges of grievous bodily harm, and the Imperia investigating judge had validated the arrest. With the death of the victim, his position has further worsened: he is now under investigation for murder.

The man, originally from Cosenza and also resident in Ventimiglia, has criminal record. The investigations, coordinated by Deputy Prosecutor Veronica Meglio, are now aiming to clarify the exact motives for the attack and the nature of the relationships between the three involved. A preliminary investigation will be carried out in the next few hours. the autopsy to precisely determine the cause of death.
