Sanremo: The State Police and Special Forces ready to guard the city on the occasion of the 75th Edition of the Italian Song Festival

On the occasion of the 75th Edition of the Italian Song Festival, which will be held from Tuesday 11th to Saturday 15th February, the city of Sanremo will be patrolled every day by approximately 370 members of the police force. The State Police will ensure the safety of the event with specific Public Order services, through the use of personnel from the Police Headquarters and the local Public Safety Commissioner's Office, Mobile Units, First Response Operations Units, bomb disposal experts and dog units, members of the Carabinieri and the Guardia di Finanza. For the occasion, the territorial control services will be significantly implemented by the patrol cars of the Sanremo Public Safety Police Station, the Crime Prevention Units, the patrols of other law enforcement agencies and the Local Police.

The main entrances to the city of flowers will be monitored by the Railway Police and the Highway Police, with targeted checks at the railway station, motorway toll booths, along the A10 motorway and the Aurelia state road. The Postal Police Cyber ​​Security Operations Center will be present with dependent personnel for a service dedicated to the safety of the singing event.

As for the past editions, the “red zone” has been established for the area including Piazza Colombo, the Ariston theatre, Via Matteotti, Via Mameli and Piazza Borea D'Olmo. Access to this area will be guaranteed by 10 gates, which will be monitored throughout the week of the Festival by the police and Rai stewards. Both people and any bags or suitcases in their possession will be checked using metal detectors.

Residents and those who go there for work reasons will be able to access the “red zone”, the latter upon presentation of a pass issued by the Local Police. Lastly, the public order control by sea will be guaranteed by the naval units of the Guardia di Finanza, while the Port Authority will take care of navigation safety.
