Imperia: Fraud against an elderly lady, father and son arrested

The Carabinieri identified and arrested, in flagrante delicto, a father and son, aged 54 and 17 respectively, who were on a business trip and had deceived an 84-year-old woman with the consolidated technique of the fake Carabiniere/Lawyer.

The old woman, believing that it was all true, collected all the jewels and money kept in the house and placed everything in a bag which was then handed over to the lawyer's phantom assistant who promptly reached the house.

Once inside the house, the criminal took all the gold and money and before fleeing, he also stole the victim's cell phone to prevent him from, once she realized the scam, could raise the alarm.

Luckily the elderly woman immediately realized what had happened and managed to ask for help from her neighbors who alerted the police who immediately started looking for the two: the Carabinieri managed to identify the car, already previously reported for other alleged scam attempts and used by the criminals, intercepted and blocked it. Inside the car, the entire stolen goods were found, equal to 600 euros in cash and over half a kilo of gold and jewels, worth approximately 15 thousand euros.

Both detainees were arrested and transferred to the first reception center in Genoa and the prison in Imperia.
