THERegional Health Councillor Massimo Nicolò, last night, visited the Imperia Emergency Room following the serious assault suffered last Saturday by healthcare workers during the shift.

Also present at the inspection were the senator Gianni Berrino, Vice President of the Region Alessandro Piana Councilor for Urban Planning Marco Scajola andTourism Councilor Luca LombardiThe meeting was the occasion for express the institutions' closeness to healthcare workers and for reaffirm the Region's commitment to hospital safety.

“Our visit to the hospital in Imperia – declared Nicolò – demonstrates how The Liguria Region is close to doctors and all healthcare workers and how it is working to ensure their safety through a constant comparison with the Prefects. We cannot accept that those who work to care for and assist citizens must suffer violence: the protection of operators is an absolute priority.. "

The councilors announced the initiation of discussions with the Prefects to define protocols shared at regional level. The goal is strengthen security procedures starting from the reporting phase to the operations centre, in presence of patients in an evidently altered state.

“It is essential – added Nicolò – that the healthcare personnel know they can count on concrete prevention and support tools. We will work with all institutions involved to ensure safe environments, where doctors, nurses and citizens are always protected.”
