Bordighera: fake carabiniere scam, Neapolitan gets into trouble for trying to defraud an elderly woman.
In Bordighera, the Carabinieri of the local Company identified and arrested, in flagrante delicto, a 30-year-old of Neapolitan origins before he withdrew the money from an elderly man.
The crime hypothesis is aggravated attempted fraud.
The victim is a 74-year-old local man from whom the criminal had tried to steal several thousand euros and gold objects with the so-called "fake carabinieri marshal" technique. Someone had called him saying that his daughter was in trouble and that to fix everything he would have to hand over all the money and gold he had available.
A Neapolitan, as mentioned, has already been identified before he managed to carry out the crime and investigations are still underway to track down his accomplices.
The man was arrested and, following a summary trial held before the Court of Imperia, was placed in pre-trial detention in prison.
A constant commitment by the military of the Arma to protect the weakest groups after a series of scams against the elderly committed in the province in recent weeks.
The operation carried out by the Carabinieri is yet another opportunity to reiterate that we must be extremely careful when receiving calls from strangers or from people who introduce themselves with the names of children, grandchildren and close relatives, or who ring the doorbell saying they have to deliver packages.
In such cases, if you have even the slightest doubts, you should contact 112 or a relative or friend who can intervene promptly.
Scams, especially those targeting elderly people, are a hateful phenomenon since criminals, by faking accidents, illnesses or other difficult situations involving their children or grandchildren, induce the unfortunate victims to hand over sums of money and their most valuable objects.
