Poetry and Beauty in Monza in the hospital to humanize treatment

Poetry and Beauty in Monza in the hospital to humanize treatment.

Humanize care. A mantra that is starting to enter hospitals today and thanks to associations and the foresight of some healthcare managers, beauty, an embrace, warmth and from today poetry, can help cure physical and mental illnesses, and even alleviate waiting in hospital.

Thanks to the availability ofSan Gerardo Hospital of Monza and House of Poetry of MonzaZeroconfini OnlusFidapa BPW Italy, Modoetia Corona Ferrea section, and the Friends of the Museums of Monza, a project was born that starts from Saturday 17 December.

The first event, in collaboration with Fidapa Modoetia Corona Ferrea, is a conference, on Saturday 17 December at 10am, in the Enrico Maria Pogliani auditorium of the Monza hospital and will have the title "With Covid on our shoulders and in our hearts" «This is the ideal continuation of an initiative we undertook during the first lockdown - Explains Antonetta Carrabs, president of Fidapa Modoetia – We had networked with women involved in different fields, collecting their testimonies which then resulted in a publication, a way to overcome that difficult moment". Among the speakers Maddalena Lettino, director of the Complex Operational Unit of Clinical Cardiology of San Gerardo, Lorena Salvini, nursing coordinator of the nephrology and medical oncology department of the same hospital, Anna Mancuso, president of Salute Donna onlus, Tiziana Achilli, past president of Fidapa Modoetia, Donatella Vergari, president of Terre des Hommes Italia, Rossella Spinosa, composer and musicologist.

Another important moment will be i poetry readings organized by La Casa della Poesia which will take place from Monday 19th to Friday 23rd December from 10.30 to 12 in the Cup space of the hospital. The initiative, entitled "Poetry that looks at me", wants to convey the strength of the beauty of the verses and words to those who are waiting for a reservation or to collect a report. Sixteen female voices, accompanied by Michele Sangineto's psaltery, they will take turns reading texts that convey positive emotions and sensations.

«The associations – underlined the general director of Asst Monza Silvano Casazza - they are an asset and a resource for the hospital. The pandemic has called us to provide greater services to citizens and these initiatives aimed at humanizing care, respecting and enhancing the uniqueness of the person, are also an answer. Poetry, music, art, literature can contribute to promoting the improvement of health care capabilities through the value of the relationship between scientific and civic competence. Networking is fundamental in every activity and even more so in healthcare because we are all potential patients".

The path could also continue all year round thanks also to the contribution of Ivana Scravaglieri, former Avo volunteer, shatzu operator and reflexologist who promotes the humanisation of care with her work and who will be one of the readers involved in the San Gerardo Cup between 17 and 23 December.
