Liguria, no Asian bedbug emergency.
"The presence of bedbugs in homes should not cause concern, as the insect is harmless to humans and animals. In this regard, please remember that the use of insecticides for civilian use in homes is inadvisable, as they are not effective in reducing the presence of the insect and for obvious environmental reasons. Furthermore, with the end of the summer season and the drop in night temperatures, bedbugs go into hibernation". He communicates it the vice-president of the Liguria Region Alessandro Piana.
"In reality the season just ended - Said Piana - highlighted a progressive decrease in Asian bedbug infestations active in our territory. The presence of the insect on spring crops was almost nil in most areas, while infestations were detected more frequently on olive trees between August and September, mostly of a minor nature.".
The constant monitoring conducted by the phytosanitary service of Liguria region, also highlighted the progressive spread of insects antagonistic to the bedbug, which infest the eggs of Halyomorpha halys, released in the region as part of the national control plan.
