Modena, the exhibition on the Saharawi people inaugurated
Continues until Thursday 5 January “Saharawi a people worth knowing", the photographic exhibition, set up in the Quartiere 1 headquarters in Piazzale Redecocca, which displays the images created by the photojournalist Stefano Montesi.
Organized byKabara Lagdaf association, on the occasion of its thirtieth anniversary, with the patronage of the Municipality of Modena, the exhibition was inaugurated this morning, Thursday 22 December, in the presence of the Councilor for Europe and International Cooperation of the Municipality of Modena Anna Maria Lucà Morandi, of Councilor for International Development Cooperation of the Emilia Romagna Region Barbara Lori, by Franco Bertolino, of the Kabara Lagdaf association. She also intervened in connection Fatima Mahfoud, representative of the Polisario Front in Italy since 2020.
Le images created by freelance photojournalist Stefano Montesi they tell the life of Sahrawi people in the territories occupied by kingdom of Morocco, which does not recognize its independence, and in the refugee camps set up in the Algerian desert.
"A reality – commented thecouncilor Lucà Morandi - which also Modena knows: for over twenty years, in fact, we have had a bond with the Saharawi people which takes the form of social, health and human support in refugee camps and in the reception of children with families in Modena".
The exhibition, with free admission, will be open to visitors until Thursday 5 January and will be open in the morning (from 9.30 to 13) on 23, 27, 29 December, and 2 and 5 January; in the afternoon (from 15pm to 18pm) on 24, 28, 30 December, and 3 and 4 January.
