Cineclub dei Piccoli, the winners of the 2022 edition.
It's the film."Hanukka – The Festival of Lightsi” to win the third edition of the national short film festival Il Cineclub dei Piccoli which took place at the same time as Palermo and Messina.
The work of the Palermo director Maurizio Forestieri, with voices by Luisa Ranieri and Francesco Pannofino (Production Rai Boys e Graphilm Entertainment), was awarded by the popular jury made up of young spectators who, during this intense week of the Festival, were also engaged in educational workshops and workshops dedicated to the world of cinema.
Hanukka – The Festival of Lights è a story of friendship, courage and sharing, full of poetry and food for thought, aimed at young people and their families. In post-war Rome, among the Jewish community that wants to start living freely again after years of racist persecution, a young pastry chef named Anna fights to save the family shop from the clutches of Antiochus, a mean and ruthless man. In an era where the necessary is lacking, on the eve of the Hanukkah holiday, friendship and solidarity will make the difference.
Il Special Jury Award for the second place it went instead to “Volcano" made by Serena Miraglia, Margherita Abruzzi, Giada Rizzi and Lara Zizzi: the story of the young man is told Hephaestus who wants to redeem himself in his mother's eyes and to do so he needs the help of Ermes Rewards Programme, who, however, does not seem to take his role as messenger of the gods seriously. Rather, he is more interested in the contraptions built by the blacksmith of theOlympus.
Finally, the only recognition coming from a jury of adults, the FICC Award for Best Director, He went to "Superfunny Button", Elena Panetta and Valerio Sorcinelli, with the following motivation: “His irony combined with a pleasant combination of images and music entertain and make children of all ages think".
In this work, a little girl is locked in her house, in her little comfortable bubble, while the large window behind her shows a violent alien invasion devastating the planet. But nothing disturbs the protagonist, lying on the sofa while she shakes the phone boredly feed of the social networks: kittens, kittens, more kitten videos and more kittens. Until, getting up to go look for something in the fridge, she notices a button that transports her to a magical world made up entirely of kittens. Here she gives herself over to mad joy, to the point of letting off steam in a grotesque manner also a certain wild nature.
Francesco Torre, founder and artistic director of the Festival, takes stock of this third edition" It was a party. We literally shuttled between Palermo e Messina but the enthusiasm of children and teachers, in the first school year without masks and restrictions, was surprising and contagious and always supported us. The widespread festival formula has worked and we have also consolidated a truly passionate work team, always faithful to our identity values, which are also sublimated here by the art of Michel Ocelot, the ideal mentor and guiding star of this edition: promotion of personal paths of free creativity and valorization of plurality and diversity".
The event, organized by the Sicilian cultural association Arknoah with the support of the FICC - Italian Federation of Cinema Clubs and the Tourism, Sport and Entertainment Department of the Sicilian Region, this year saw the collaboration of Educational direction Aristide Gabelli of Palermo and of the Comprehensive Institute n. 7 Enzo Drago from Messina.
